Rainbird, if you need xeriscaping succulents around your pond, PM me.

ok so here are the pics I took.. please keep in mind this is not finished lol.. The fence on the right will be replaced and we have lots more flagstone that was hand picked from our own local mountains to keep stacking. the waterfall is about 4' high and the pond is about 3' deep in the middle. the yard will be fully grass seeded soon and plants will be planted all around the pond and behind the waterfall as well. the back and side yard also got cut right down and re graded to run away from the house.

A pond is ("can be") a WAY more complicated process than one thinks. There is a series of 23 or 24 videos on youtube by The Pond Digger that shows the "proper" way to build a pond, ... but after watching this series of videos, it looks like it would be about $50-60,000.

I built my pond for around 500 dollars.
I saved a ton by propagating most of the plants in it and I did everything myself, I didn't hire any assistance or expertise.
Most of the money was spent on a good quality neoprene liner and the pump.

There are also massive water features built in Austria and Portugal by Sepp Holzer.

Big equipment needed though.

Many others have simply used shovels and built Swales on sloping land.
Check them out if you want.

Goggle such phrases as Swales, permaculture, Sepp Holzer, Geoff Lawton, etc.

I'm doing Swales on my land but I'd like ponds too.

That there is yer foundation. The rest is just imagination.

I had a pond for years and loved every minute spent listening too it and watching it.

They take some work but the pay back is limitless.

I miss my pond.
