J/K. Ha ha.

I came home to a huge pile of organic debris left in my front yard. What's troubling is that this refusal of the weather to really warm up is contributing to a backlog of leaves and organics which refuse to break down. It's not doing what it is supposed to be doing. And now I've got a mess to clean up before the tulips bloom and I want everyone to stop in to see the show.

Snagged a Perpetua Blueberry at Bylands. It may get planted today. I just want that rain to stop so I can get kids out in the yard.

Started removing lawn. Inlaws come visit so I took a break. Went under plum tree and got some violets for Mom. Got tangled in raspberry canes. Time to get back at it. Pruned raspberry canes. Then blackberry. Then tayberry. Back to the lawn. Had to find hoe. Pulled out all the hoses (yay for son!). Looked at unfinished job - husband calls me in to find something.

Ugh it feels too early to mow.

I finally got dirt and stuff planted in one of the beds. The next one won't get anything till it's a bit warmer. Feet up now, beer in hand. We did Easter yesterday so it's round two with leftovers tonight. Gonna be gooooood!

What "stuff" would that be?

I just came in. The lettuce seeds "Cimmaron" are coming up :130:
Peonies are up. Lots of self seeding went on and I've got overflow on so many plants it's not funny. I too am holding off for more planting. The shallots are slow, not showing tips but I dug one and saw roots, so maybe they'll make it.

We're taking chicken dinner over to moms soon.

Half done removing sod. My peonies are poking through, the rescue bulbs are dark blue/purple hyacinths, narcissi up, red tulips and rescue tulips (from Kiwanis) are up. I even have daffodills!

Going to bbq steak now.

Feeling a little out of sorts today, why would last week be warmer than this week?
Isn't that a bit backwards? I demand an explanation.

Is transplanting in cold weather like this recommended or :-X frowned upon? I have pansies to deal with.
Having a bit of a dilemma here.

Don't be a Pansy and just do it! :D
My Wife asked me if I knew what her favorite flower was?
Apparently "Robin Hood All Purpose" was the wrong answer!

Okay, I think breakie is in order first now. Is that sun coming out? Awesome, my day is about to get better.

I plan mass sprout-cide where I want the red and white flower look this year. I'm going to dig through all the wheelbarrows and get them topped up with fresh dirt. So glad I thought of this idea. Red and White for Canada's 150th. The usual suspects are invited over to see it once it's getting established.

Today is Garden DDay. We aren't going anywhere after all, not enough wildflowers are out and blooming yet. So, therefore, we are lining up all the big and little jobs for the next two days.

Moving stuff, downsizing, taking care of chores left in last year's Autumn cold snap.

Yahooo, I'm so excited I'm gonna wet my plants.

That was a nice break. Weather turned perfect.
Cleaned up the organic pile of grasses and stuff the neighbour left for me.
Strawberries are moved. Now it's clean out the back dirt piles and arrange the stuff we want to plant Jerusalem artichokes in.
Decide how much dirt to call for and make the call.

Is it only me or does everyone move shrubs and mounding grasses every few years? It would be easier if they had wheels or if I quit changing the look of the beds. Great day to do it though. Warm enough to be outside and cool enough to energize us.

Tomorrow I'm back to cleaning the beds and digging out turf that mysteriously pops up everywhere.
