Where do you get your mushroom manure from?
I haven't failed until I quit.

Art Knapps. They have it prepackaged and also bulk. I bought prepackaged even though it was more expensive because it stinks and I don’t have the energy I used to have.

I used to get mine at the mushroom farm up Dilworth Mountain, but they've been defunct for years.
I hear there is a place in Summerland; but apparently, they used composting wood chips as a medium, and not manure.

QK - is it too early to pull my leaves off the garden beds?

Off?
I put 6 inches or more leaves on my garden in the fall.
I'll be digging them in soon.
Don't take them off.

I have terrible luck digging my leaves in, they seem to not want to decompose and I have no idea as to why. Too much clay?
When I dig mine in, they act "frozen" and I can dig somewhere and find uncomposted leaves months later. Right now I'm keeping my leaves over the garlic that is coming up as a light frost cover. I am removing a lot of dead material from the flower gardens though.
I want to plant peas on Monday. For some reason when I get back from work, I end up cleaning out dead stuff.
We are underway to clearing out an area so trees can come down. I have contacts to call and I expect to start the process of clearing out a the back building and taking measurements for its new purpose.

These are on the flower beds - they're fairly thick and have been protecting my roses and such, but the bulbs are struggling to push through them in areas. What do you think, Bman? Still leave them there?

I'd leave it, but that's my opinion. The worms will take it.
It's hard to have too much organics in your soil.
Soil is unhealthy without it.
I can't put enough on mine. As much as I have an abundance of leaves and clippings, I also have friends bring leaves over in autumn by the truckloads, and I dump it on the garden and dig it in in the spring.
As soon as the soil warms, it's all gone.
It's awesome soil, and I nurture it.
It's ok if it doesn't decompose right away. It takes time.
But it will go.
You never see years of accumulations of uncomposted leaves in nature.
Just don't dump toxic leaves like walnut on your garden.
Btw pine needles are good to mulch your blueberries.
Organics is a crucial compound of healthy soil.

I don't have walnut, so I'm good.
I do have pine needles that need pulling out of garden beds though. And I may expand my blueberry bed this year. If I can find the phone number for the blueberry lady who was outside at Seedy Sunday at the Parkinson Rec Centre.
Loving this rain, though!

I'm loving this rain, all my water barrels are getting full.
Elephant Garlic is being watered in.
Peas are being watered in. I planted lots by now.

I have 10 silver lace vines to give away.
4 are 4 years old from the nursery, 6 are 2 years old from the nursery.
I have trimmed them back and are ready to dig out.
Bring your own containers.

They do make great fence cover, but they may just bury your yard . . .

Yes, you are quite right. I did not keep on top of the older ones last year and they did run away. They make great covers if you trim, trim, trim.

I'm considering it, but rather like Trumpet Vines and climbing roses. Roses for the thorns on the back fence.
I am going outside to assess the yard. Ugh, hate that it is so cold!
