"The Dark Night of the Crow"
Up on the hill, in dark of night
I fell down hard and had a fright
I rolled down the hill, arms n legs in the air
When I came to, there was a huge bear
I looked at him with fear in my eyes.
When along came a wolf with hungry eyes.
The wolf and the bear began to snarl
The bear declared, "Just call me Carl."
Well the wolf responded "My name is Jo"
Look up in the sky, what is that glow?"
So the three walked together up that huge hill
I left to pay me cell phone bill.
With tears in their eyes they waved goodbye
Off they went to eat their cherry pie.
Well I turned around and tripped over a turtle,
"Oh my!" I cried, "I'm feeling quite fertile!"
So I ran home and called my best friend Brock
And whispered, "Baby, we need to . . . talk!"
But Brock had a date with some chick named Reba!
Ah felt purty danged bad, and ran up a fevah.
So I sat down with a nice cup of hot Earl Grey Tea
And dreamed of all the boys, now that I was free.
Up on that hill, there's a lot going on,
While down in the valley, the crow sings his song.
Off in the distance there is an eerie glow!
The glow of my gun, when I shot that noisy crow.
The crows gathered 'round, with hate in their eyes,
I shuddered in fear, and awaited my demise.
The wind in the trees roared like waves on the sea,
Such sound and fury stirred a memory in me.
The whole town went quiet, eyes glued to the news
As they trembled in fear, and quaked in their shoes.
One man shouted, "It's a nuclear attack!"
They shouted back at him, "You must be on crack!"
To confuse nuclear power with a large swarm of crows?!
"The end is nigh," he cried, "'tis an ill wind that blows!"
The only thing blowing was Jo's beans for lunch.
And the madman sighed, for he had a hunch.
He lived in a bell tower in Notre Dam
With goblins and cherubs and a dog named Sam
He had a crystal ball, and in its shadows he could see,
A swarm of aliens...'Oh could it be?'
Shaking in fear, he stumbled against the ball
He leaned on the duck, but OOPS ...he fell!!!!!
As he fell, he heard a bell, it was an omen, he could tell.
Running down from the tower, he flew into the street,
Crying, "The world is ending! We're dead meat!"
But down from the sky came a man dressed in blue
He landed with a smile, and asked, "How do you do?"
rather stunned, the reply began, "not well..."
"That can happen," he laughed, "when you're headed for hell."
So the madman dashed away, good riddance I thought
Then I felt a blow, and as I fell, I knew I was caught
The man dressed in blue threw me over his back
"A hero!" I thought, "and oh my, what a rack!"
He said "Please don't stare at the horns on my head"
"I might blush, and that'll make me see red."
I averted my eyes to the ground below
And I saw standing there, the ubiquitous crow.
The crow had survived the shot from my gun
and now is after me..I have to run.
I slapped the man carrying me, and gave a loud "HYEAH!"
I said hurry up and let’s get married, here comes my PA
The skies opened up, rain started to fall,
It pounded down hard, shuddered on the wall.
I knew in my heart that this was a "CALL"
To get out of the weather, a horrible squall.
So the love of my life joined me in the church
Inside were pews, outside was a birch
And much to my horror, in the birch was a crow
Quoting 'Nevermore', he swooped down low.
Got me right where the sun don't shine
and left me there to cry and whine
I whooped and wailed to no avail,
and sounded like a *bleep* humpback whale
Just when I thought things couldn't get worse...
Along came a bulldog, sporting a purse.
He open his mouth, started singing a verse
Which sounded suspiciously more like a curse.
The bulldog bowed low, and trotted away
He waddled a bit, but you know what they say,
"All's well that ends well." I hope that is true.
But what if it's not? That makes me feel blue.
Just hope for the best; in the end, it works out,
And hey, if it doesn't, I'll just have to pout.
Whilst I pouted, my true love fled.
I had a fit, and thew a rock at his head,
I sat in the grass and began to weep
And into the ground those tears did seep.
opened my eyes...oh what did grow?
Big weepy willows my tears did sow!
In the willows there roosted a murder of crows
With murderous intent they dropped things on my toes.
I slapped on the saddle and said "Tonto, let's go".
As we raced through the trees, it started to snow.
Though camaflouged in white I recognized that crow.
I said to the horse, "Oh, where can we go?"
Down through the fields and the valleys we ran,
As we galloped, I came up with a plan
Damn it was good, except for the catch
We had to get past the Bandersnatch!
My heart quailed in fear, as we galloped on past,
This nightmare, how long would it last?
Onward we raced, well into the night
Never afraid, and ready to fight!

Maybe we could start a new poem in another thread, and leave this one to be continued or stopped as people see fit, just in case someone would prefer to keep it going?
Actually, we can start more than one new poem, if we'd like. We can have as many going as we want, come to think of it, and maybe we can try a tandem story, too.
Creative Endeavours is starting out beautifully!
