And in the end, after seeing the young men’s smiling faces, taunting, congratulatory chest bumps and sarcastic golf clapping, you might wish the scrap would have lasted a bit longer, with a few more meaningful face punches on both sides.

“I know our coaches certainly don’t condone bench brawls, so something extraordinary must have happened for it to have occurred.”

But contacted earlier by The Province, a spokesman for the B.C. Lacrosse Association said he could not comment, adding, “it happens all the time.”

A spokesman for the Nanaimo RCMP said there was no record of a complaint about the brawl, in which no one appears to have suffered any injuries.

Guess nothing happened then.
