Muhammad Ali's Family Gathers at Ailing Boxer's Hospital Bedside

Muhammad Ali's family gathered by his hospital bedside Friday as the boxer dubbed "The Greatest" continued to battle a respiratory condition.

The 74-year-old former heavyweight champion was hospitalized on Thursday in Phoenix, Arizona, for what had initially been expected to be a "brief" stay, according to his spokesman Bob Gunnell.

He was last boxer I watched, for myself notable matches were against:

Frazier
Chuvalo
Foreman
Norton
Spinks

I know he had many others these are the ones that stand out for me.

Added: if a match could happen, both in their prime. Tyson vs Ali (of course Ali would win)
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

we already figured this, but...

Boxing great Muhammad Ali close to death in hospital: source

Asked about Ali's condition, the source said: "It's extraordinarily grave. It's a matter of hours."

The source said he had spoken with Ali's wife, Lonnie. "It could be more than a couple of hours, but it's not going to be much more. Funeral arrangements are already being made."

Cassius was beyond outrageous in his prime. But he seems to have become an American hero, and I was utterly blown away when he appeared in the Atlanta Olympic Games ceremony. Atlanta! Georgia!! They hate blacks down there, but there he was.

The year 2016 is taking the great ones and famous by the dozens.

So sad to read about yet another.

Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee...will never forget the day my dad took us to watch you practice.

Rest In Peace, Ali...there will never be another.

Pretty awesome guy, would've been interesting to see how he'd play out his life without Parkinson's - Looks like he made the best of it.

LOUISVILLE, KY.—The day before his star-studded funeral, members of Muhammad Ali’s Islamic faith will get their chance to say a traditional goodbye to the Champ.

Bob Gunnell, a spokesman for Ali’s family, announced Monday that a Jenazah, a traditional Muslim funeral service, will be held at Freedom Hall at noon Thursday. It will be open to all.

They chose the venue both because it seats 18,000 and because it holds historical significance for the hometown hero. Ali fought, and won, his first professional fight there in 1960.

Gunnell said Ali, who converted to the Islamic faith in the 1960s, started planning his own funeral nearly a decade ago. Gunnell said he wanted his services “to reflect his life and how he lived” with a heart open to people of all colours and creeds.
