Any Birders Here?

I would like to know the name of the bird that captured this chickadee in my yard.

I think it's a merlin.

I think you're right ferri. Grammafreddy would have known. We have merlins around - really aggressive bird.

They are noisy too. LOL You can always tell when they are around. [icon_lol2.gif]

Cool! Neat to see but I am a little concerned he will start hanging around and pick off the birds at my feeder.

He probably will hang out there some. But they seem to have a pretty big territory. Just make sure you don't go out there in a chicken suit when he's around. :)

We have had a few different types (sparrow, merlin, red-tailed) swooping through the neighbourhood but they don't seem to stay for very long in one place. Guess the buffet is too big to remain at one table.

I wish more Merlins would clean out ring-necked pigeons and starlings.

Nice capture Treeguy, we never see them downtown where I have bird feeders.
As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

There are a few peregrines downtown - I see them once in a while. More often I'll run across feathers under a tree . . .
I haven't failed until I quit.
