If one is actually aware, they can tell if/when another driver is about to exit without them using a signal. It's really quite easy. If you can't, then I submit that you are a sub-par driver. I've also witnessed 3 near-misses when someone entered a circle because the other driver was signalling to leave, but didn't. You can't trust signals; there's other more reliable indicators that that flashing light.
:rate10: Exactly.
I signal anyway when leaving.

1. Approach
Reduce your speed.
Watch for signs that may help you find your exit.
Watch for people using the crosswalk, and be ready to stop.
2. Yield
Yield to traffic already in the roundabout that comes from your immediate left before you enter.
3. Enter
Enter the roundabout to your right (a counter clockwise direction) when there is a gap in traffic and you feel it is safe to do so.
Continue until you reach your exit.
4. Exit
Never come to a full stop in a roundabout unless traffic conditions require it.
Use your right turn signal to let other road users know where you plan to exit.
Exit at a slow speed.
As you exit, watch for people using the crosswalk, and be ready to stop.
If you miss your exit, keep going around the roundabout until you reach it again.
LIKE SERIOUSLY.
Well now, look at all the time you're wasting in the traffic circle. Just put it to the boards, come screaming in (the other motorists will get out of yoru way) then SLOW to a CRAWL. Don't bother with a signal, better to keep the other drivers on their toes by makign them guess what your next move may be.

The only traffic circle I've ever used is that miniscule one over by guisachan village. I doubt a signal makes any difference since you're in and out in like 3 seconds. I try to signal when exiting but I wouldn't count on anyone else's signals at all when using that circle anyway, the car movements speak for themselves and I wouldn't trust that a signal hasn't been mistakenly left on due to a cranked wheel or something. Maybe in big multi-lane circles, but not these piddly things we have around here.

Why signal through intersections then? You're in and out in about 3 seconds. Why signal when changing lanes? You're done in about 3 seconds. You're all forgetting the basic logic behind the signal. It isn't a physical requirement, it is about courtesy and helps others around you plan their next move. How is this so hard to grasp? Kelowna drivers shining through on the boards.

meh, if you're not good enough to figure out what other people around you are doing, then that's your problem, not mine. And your what-ifs are different situations; I could pick 'em apart if I felt like making this post any longer, but I've got better things to do.

I agree, and I do fine with the current state of things. I just think it could be a lot better if 9/10 people just signaled.

Re: Am I the only one around here
To be honest & fair, you are quite right there (sorry if I sounded confrontational - don't mean to) and I actually do signal sometimes, depending on traffic conditions etc. If I see a confused-looking driver sitting there, I give 'em a signal. One other reason I tend not to is because of the diameter of the circles here, it puts my signal arm in a "dead spot" so it doesn't stay - I hafta hold it there with one hand if I'm gonna use it. One other thing - the way I drive thru one of our circles (honestly, the only one I use is at the end of Benvoulin) I cut from outside-to-inside in a way that makes it quite obvious where I'm exiting (or not exiting) - I can honestly say that I've never seen anybody looking unsure about my intentions. (outside of the occasional confused elderly or new driver, who, as I mentioned before, I signal for)
