Re: Motorcycles
The valley is generally warm and sunny. We had 9 bikes/riders out on last night's ride. I'm heading to Keremeos on Sunday and going for a rip with my cousin along Green Mountain Rd. I have a feeling that some others might be joining us along the way.

That's it. I've decided to try to load the scoot into the beast and bring'er out next weekend. You all better do your best for good weather or I'm holding you personally responsible. Stoked!

The weather in town today is the pits. I did go riding - the south OK wasn't too bad. Hopefully by the time you're here, the sky is all rained out and dried up.
Drop a note here when you come out - maybe we can all meet up and go for a group CastaRide ;)

Re: Motorcycles
i ride a star stryker, but wanted to give a heads up to anyone getting repairs done. a close friend of mine recently had work done(new pipes, carb sync, and hypercharger install) work done took 2 hours more than quote. ( 2 days without bike is sad) should have been a 4 hour job, carbs were so far out of sync ( 2 foot difference in a water monometer) the bike vibrated alot and was much louder than it should have been. intake boot was folded over (sucking in dirty air) not to mention the scratches and stripped adjusters on the carbs. i dont want to name names but there are lots of adds on the classifieds claiming a 40 yr master mechanic and "carb wizard" but i wouldnt call him that. in the end it was a bigger bill than expected and we still had to strip it down and repair all of the "repairs" that were done. so just be carefull which small shops on the westside you go to. :purefury:

About 4 years ago, I paid an "independant shop" in Lumby to do a tune-up (carb sync, valve adjustment, oil/filter change), new rear tire, new front brakes, and new fork seals on an older but still reasonably popular bike. The bill came back at just shy of $2000. I had been hosed. I was charged 300% or greater markup on parts. I was sold a $100 tire for $400 plus $300 installation. The $20 fork seals were billed at $100 plus $300 to install. I know that he didn't actually replace the oil filter that he charged me $300 for, and a jug of oil from Yamaha is certainly a lot cheaper than the $150 he claimed.
I just had pretty much the same work done at Yamaha here in town on my current bike. They have a tune-up special which does the carb-sync, valve adjustment, oil/filter change, diff-oil change for $350. I had a front tire installed for $230 ($170 for the tire, $50 install). I bought pads from them for $80/set (four pads), and they were installed at the same time the front tire was replaced (no charge for install, as they had to remove and re-install the pads when changing the tire).
Moral of the story - the small shops aren't necessarily a bargain. Besides - Kelowna Yamaha's shop techs are pretty darned good.

i agree kelowna yamaha is a good shop, ive also had lots of great experiences with danny at valleymoto for parts, only took the bike to redline as it was highly recomended, (obviously by people that dont know much). its one thing to overcharge for work done its another thing to overcharge for work done that either wasnt done or it was done wrong. just wanted to give everyone a heads up so they dont make the same mistake. cheers.

Well, I got a little blip in while I was there. Made it out to summerland Sunday morning for a surprise visit and coffee with some friends. Great ride. It's soooo much better riding there. The corners, the smells, the scenery, the corners, the nice roads, and you can't beat the corners. Enjoy every turn you lucky bastards.

Why not just ride the thing out from Albernia?

Mostly my Triumph. I don't have the time to run two bikes this year like i have th epast 4 years despite the Norton having ultra cheap Collectore plates.
I mIght bring an Indian Woodsman or late 50's Chief over from the UK this summer but it is hard to justfy the trouble and expense when I haven't the time ride two bikes let alone three.

The only reason I don't have it on a boat to Canada is due to some issues with the title and the RIV.
