Updated: Woman drives on sidewalk
Woman who drove on sidewalk to avoid school bus ordered to wear ‘idiot’ sign.
The Associated Press
CLEVELAND—A woman caught on camera driving on a sidewalk to avoid a Cleveland school bus that was unloading children will have to stand at an intersection wearing a sign warning about idiots.
Court records show a Cleveland Municipal Court judge on Monday ordered 32-year-old Shena Hardin to stand at an intersection for two days next week. She will have to wear a sign saying: “Only an idiot drives on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus.”
The judge ordered her to wear the sign from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. both days.
Hardin’s license was suspended for 30 days and she was ordered to pay $250 in court costs.
Messages seeking comment were left at a telephone listing for Hardin and at her attorney’s office.

She should lose her license and wear the sign permanently!

Woman forced to wear idiot sign
Obviously I would like to know what those who are interested have to say.

Love it certainly fits ths crime. Couldn't we do it for drinking and driving, speeding excessivley etc. etc.. I'm willing to bet in many cases it would work as a better deterrent than fines.

I think we could use a lot more judges with that type of a mindset.

I think the sign part is juvenile.

It might be juvinile, I don't think so but I do believe public humiliation is a huge deterrent. People hate seeing themselves in the limelight for the wrong reasons.

Stop me if I'm missing sarcasm here...
But the fact that the people on the bus were obviously very prepared for this happening, one could imagine this woman has done it more than once before. The cops were tipped off to the location?

Maybe she has and they were waiting for her to do it again. If so good on em! She should not be driving.

From what I read about it, the "perp" had been doing this for some time and had been caught on camera doing it before. I'm pretty sure this was a sting to catch her in the act.
And I agree about the public humiliation being a deterrent - highly doubt she'll pull that stunt ever again after a good ol shaming.

Personally I'd MUCH rather pay a monetary fine rather than be publically humiliated. Juvenile or not, I believe it has much more impact.

Re: Woman drives on sidewalk
Back story here is that this woman had been doing this repeatedly for some time, that is why the police car was present. Apparently after being caught, she said this was the first time she had ever done it! So why would the school bus driver call the cops to complain and why would they be laying in wait for her?
