I can't believe how often this happens... I think we're at the rate of at least 5 per year in the Okanagan alone..

There should be an immediate driving test as in road and written one. The second people use two feet, one for the brake and one for the accelerator. THE TEST ENDS AND LICENSED REVOKED.

At least he had horse shoes up his butt, in that he wiped out the whole store, yet none of the multiple people inside was injured.

Before we lynch the driver I have good evidence to support the idea it may NOT have been a case of mistaken peddles. I have the identical truck. And if that truck had the identical motor to mine, It could have the same glitch mine has suffered from in and of for for years. The bloody thing takes off on its own. Literally full throttle - wide open. It comes from the fuel injection pump and does so without warning. The Chevy 6.5 ltrs are notorious for it and yet for some reason they were never recalled. For years I have spent thousands of dollars on trying to fix this problem on my truck. A code has never shown up on the computer. A mechanic working on it has never had it surge on them. Yet i can assure you, as can some of my unlucky passengers, the surging does happen. Perhaps this incident is just another example of a 6.5 ltr taking of on someone. Don't jump to conclusions.

Yeah well in this story the cops have come to the same conclusion from what I heard.

Besides which your argument wouldn't explain all the other recent incidents, none of which involved this type of vehicle.

Also odd that I've not heard any news reports regarding that issue, given that it would certainly be newsworthy.

"Chevy 6.5 turbo diesel surging". Google that and you will see pages and pages of Chevy owners and mechanics with the same problem. Contacted Chevy and it was never recalled or even acknowledged. Speak with any Chevy/gmc service department and they will confirm the same issues with that motor. This is why I cannot convict this driver solely on the fact of age. Reasonable doubt. Absolutely could be the same old peddle confusion and lack of reflex response time. But we still should not convict first without all facts.

I don't even have the words. Just wow. There is definitely a need for change. Somebody is going to get hurt or worse one of these days :(

I can't believe they're sluffed off like it's no big deal to the police....

It literally will take somebody getting seriously injured or killed before this is taken seriously....

10 bucks says they'll come up with some lame *bleep* regulation like "no employees or customers are allowed to stand within 3 meters of a doorway" before they actually tackle the real problem and take drivers licensing seriously.

I want to see a couple wrapped around one of those posts to keep burglars from backing into the storefront.

Car Crashes into Bulk Barn

Post by HeavyHauler »

That day the article starts with "24 year old crashes through store front" is the day I stop standing by my argument of old folks needing to be re-tested.

You just know we've been due for another one of these non drive thru, drive thru events.

It's been a couple of months. LOL
