Rumble Strips
On the new section of highway between Vernon and Kelowna why have the rumble strips been filled in at some sections of the road? Anyone know?

Re: Rumble Strips
I was thinking the same thing only the other day and have no idea unless it was to reduce noise to neighbouring homes but that seems to be choosing noise issues over safety issues.

yes, I saw the news report awhile back, some of the people who live above that stretch had complained about the noise

Re: Rumble Strips
Wouldn't that imply that the rumble strips are then being heavily used, ergo necessary?

Hopefully the sound of crushing metal doesn't wake them up.

So drivers safety is trumped by residents who do not know how to use earplugs.
Hmm... maybe each time I pass that area after midnight I will lay on my horn....lol

I hate wearing earplugs - they give me a headache. People should just learn how to drive properly.
Truths can be backed up by facts - do you have any?

Over tired drivers tend to be ones that are unable to stay between the lines, besides DD.

True enough - I wonder how often would one actually hear the noise?

Do your rumble strips work?
The 7-inch milled rumble strip has demonstrated a reduction in drift-off accidents by 70% or more. Rumble strips that do not measure up to these results may be responsible for unnecessary injury or loss of life.
I guess that means 70% must hear the noise, but even that many lives saved wouldn't even be worth it if you had to deal with the discomfort of earplugs.

Most likely quieter than the use of a J-brake going down into Winfield (the truckers that do that), which I'm sure those same residents are not happy about either.

How am I supposed to text and drive on that section or road without rumble strips to guide my movements? Now I'm going to have to use the concrete medians to guidance.
