And bring out the usual "But I'm doing the speed limit" troop.
All I can say its about freakin' time. This Province is so far behind logical rules of the road and common sense behind the wheel is even farther behind.

I like that they have recognized that the frustration left lane hogs bring into the mix is a significant hazard.

I anticipate the you will see as much enforcement of this as you do of the HOV lanes in Kelowna.

Well for starters the offending driver would have to be stupid enough to stay in the left lane with a cop in his rearview mirror.

I certainly don't intimidate that easily.....especially if I'm doing the legal limit through town where there is no requirement to 'stay right'. I don't care how important you think you are - If I'm doing the posted limit through town and you catch up to me, you're the one that's breaking the law.
Now, if you're talking about the need to stay right on a multi-lane major highway like the Coquihalla, Lake Country to Vernon or Hwy-1 through the Fraser Valley.....the 'stay right' thing makes sense.

From what I've heard that is where enforcement efforts will be focused, places where "Keep Right Except To Pass" signs are posted. These signs are not suggestions, they carry the same weight of law as a speed limit sign.

Which leads us to another problem on our roads. Enforcers picking and choosing traffic offences.

Maybe I'm a dreamer but I hope the picking and choosing would be done on the basis of what presents a greater danger to the driving public. Someone who can't grasp the concept behind an HOV lane, as much as they should be removed from the gene pool, doesn't really qualify as a hazard.

I get that, but a law is a law and if Mr. Police Officer see's someone breaking the law while cruising around, it is their job (as far as I'm concerned) to enforce those laws.
Heck, I've been pulled over because the officer thought my front windows were tinted ... hardly a hazard let alone a greater danger to the driving public compared to other infractions.
