Ambulance... dangerous driving?
Today while I was stopped at a red light at the corner of Elliot and Highway 97 in front of the Bus Loop, heading to Save On, an ambulance was coming up behind us. All traffic pulled to the right to let him/ her go by when all of a sudden they slammed on the brakes pulled a donut and started to head the other way. Is this legal?

Yup, and you better not get in their way either.

There is a reason they have those blinky things flashing and blaring noises emitting from them.
Kind of universal around the globe.
Meaning: Help is on the way, stay out of theirs, subject to change without notice.

Well we were all pulled to the right and stopped so there wasn't much more we could do to get out the way. I just wasn't sure that it was fine for them to slam on their brakes on the snow and ice, and head the other way. I have never in my life seen that before but ok. It look like he almost lost control smashing into where people were sitting in the bus shelters which was also very scary.

They probably had a call come in that required an immediate change in direction. If other drivers stop and pull over (like they are supposed to), there should be no problem, right?

Re: Ambulance... dangerous driving?
Or they missed a turn or received a wrong address.
Raymer Rd vs raymer ave for example.......a 911 operator in Kamloops, or wherever they are based now, would have no idea.
And ambulance drivers can make a mistake also.
Many reasons why this could happen, but the responses you got were actually valid even though you took them as immature.
That flashy light thingy does give them that right.
