1-Vehicle in circle has right of way.
2-Signal exit only.
3-if you never signal, park vehicle & walk away. lol
I don't give a damn whether people/posters like me or dislike me, I'm not on earth to win any popularity contests.

Re: Learn to use Roundabouts! (Traffic Circles!)
I can see some confusion if the person believing this is thinking of it in relation to a merge lane on, let's say, a freeway, but you have to understand when you are in a merge lane there are two or more lanes side by side and you are changing lanes into the lane on your left, thus the left signal.
When entering a roundabout, if anything you are turning your steering wheel to the right, not the left. Even a right turn signal is not required because you aren't indicating a change in your course you have only one way to travel.
Have I missed something ? Yes but dont worry about it.
You stated : signalling left as you approach roundabout tells others you are turning left in the intersection........
As you approach a roundabout, there is only one way to go to enter the roundabout. Usually by travelling straight and once partially in the roundabout curving to the right. Then once completely in the roundabout you are curving to the left. None of which requires a signal of any sort.
Dumbasses would probably leave their car in the roundabout!

Re: Learn to use Roundabouts! (Traffic Circles!)
Have been driving through several of the Kelowna roundabouts now for at least 5 years and have never had an issue. Some signal, some don't, some hesitate or are slower in the circle.............bottom line..........have not seen a single accident yet nor have I ever come close to being involved in one.
March 10, 2017 this thread starts and WOW..........if anything there is confusion NOW........ "this says this", "this says that", "my cop friend told me this", "ICBC has its head up its A$$", "the country I come from does this"...............
......................I think I am going to carry on the way I always have and pay attention and be aware AND that I may meet some of the posters here in a traffic circle.

Re: Learn to use Roundabouts! (Traffic Circles!)
I second lesliepaul with the fact that I haven't had any problems at the local roundabouts ... there isn't any consistency in the way that drivers use them and I doubt we'll ever drive through them the same way as anyone else (until everyone gets a self-driving car)
I use it in a car, on a bicycle ... everyone slows down nicely and plays well with each other ...
I think someone mentioned the Mythbusters testing of roundabouts vs 4-way stops ... the results were impressive with the roundabout moving 17% more cars through ... and the benefits of safety speak for themselves no matter how confused we get with the other driver ...
Use a signal, don't use a signal, left, right, upside-down ... either way we will get through this together ...

They will be the ones with their left turn signals on...

Roundabouts are the most simple straight forward areas to drive a vehicle.
Entering, yield to a vehicle in the roundabout approaching
Leaving, signal
That's it....... that's it.

I don't have to announce my intentions because the law says so!
Guess where I'm going - immediately exiting the roundabout or continuing through it?
You can come to a complete stop and wait for me - because lifting that turning signal is tough and heavy labour!

That one or two seconds means the intersection becomes a 4 way stop.

Not really. Even if every vehicle had to stop for 1 second it still would be faster than a 4 way

Not the way a lot of drivers in Kelowna use a 4 way. They barely slow down let alone stop.
