Re: Would you take a driverless Taxi ?
After seeing local white and yellow taxi perils, the chance of me taking a driver-with taxi is zero.
The chance of me taking a driver-less taxi is minus 652.

My immediate reaction is NO WAY!
But then I thought that's what people said when they were first offered the choice of riding a driverless train.
So I'll change my answer to Maybe...but not anytime soon. Technology is not advanced enough today for my liking.
In 5-10 years...who knows?

An automobile is something I control.

Re: Would you take a driverless Taxi ?
Just talked to a guy who has lane departure and following distance systems in his new
vehicle.
It is constantly going off every time the system detects an off ramp or he pulls
out to pass a vehicle.
Also applies his brakes every time someone changes lanes in front of him.
Every time he eases over to avoid potholes or when construction crews move the lanes around a bit using barrels or
other form of pylons lane departure buzzers go off and apply the brakes.
He says the constant warnings going off are more of a driving distraction than their touted safety
benefits are worth.
If it wasn't a company issued vehicle, he'd get rid of it ASAP !
Driverless vehicles have many obstacles to overcome to be able to adapt to real world driving and road conditions.
I think they would be so confused they would end up stopped as they would not be able to determine a work around.
No thanks, I'd rather take my chances on an alternative.
Note: The way I see some cabs operated it is almost like they are driverless !
vehicle.

Another reason I wouldn't take one is the amount of people that will be out of work when this gets supported.
They say you can't believe everything they say.

With some of the people I've been a passenger of I think I may have already been a riding with a garden gnome ... once the government qualifies driverless taxis I'd give it a shot ... we trust tech in our lives everyday through indirect ways, this would be a bit more direct ...
