Jiddu Krishnamurti

Post by peaceseeker »

Jiddu Krishnamurti was born on May 12, 1895 in a small town of Madanapalle, about 250 km north of Madras, India. J. Krishnamurti was raised within the Theosophical Society to be a vehicle for a prophesied World Teacher (Second Coming, Maitreya Buddha). But his life took a different turn.
In 1922, Krishnamurti established his lifelong home in California's Ojai Valley. Under an oak tree he would talk informally with people who were drawn by his ideas.
In 1929 Jiddu Krishnamurti made a dramatic break with the organization which had sponsored him and began to emerge as one of the 20th century's most iconoclastic and influential teachers. Krishnamurti repudiated not only all connections with organized religions and ideology, but denied his own spiritual authority as well. Travelling constantly, Krishnamurti also rejected ties to any country, nationality or culture. Although Jiddu Krishnamurti wrote and lectured widely, he accepted no fees for his talks, nor royalties on his books and recordings. Jiddu Krishnamurti died on February 17, 1986.

It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

A Wholly Different Way of Living: San Diego, California 1974

20th February 1974 6th Conversation with Dr. Allan W. Anderson

'Fear'

A: Mr Krishnamurti, if I recall correctly I think, we had begun to talk together last time, just at the point where the question of fear arose, and I think we both, perhaps, could explore that together a little.

K: Yes, I think so. I wonder how we can approach this problem, because it is a common problem in the world. Everyone, or I can say, almost everyone is frightened of something. It may be the fear of death, fear of loneliness, fear of not being loved, fear of not becoming famous, successful and also fear of not having physical security, and fear of not having psychological security. There are so many multiple forms of fears. Now to go into this problem really very deeply, can the mind, which includes the brain, really fundamentally be free of fear? Because fear, as I have observed, is a dreadful thing.

probably a preemtive placement on peaceseeker's part, given that so many here deny so much, he probably figured one of the regular deniers would figure that hinduism is a conspiracy.
I'm not worried what I say, if they see it now or they see it later, I said it. If you don't know maybe that would hurt you, I don't know. You should know though, so you don't get hurt, so you know what side to be on when it happens.

probably right.

I notice that Castanet has an unspoken rule, and that is that there will be nothing "new" learned, what is to be known is already known, any thinking or learning outside of what has already been verified by "education" is unacceptable.

The policy is " if you view a post with new information that has not been confirmed by the "authorities of knowledge" then you are permitted to bash and bully and have the post re-routed to the garbage bin - I mean "conspiracies"

Learning anything new is a conspiracy.

As for Jiddu - what a brilliant man.
