Pretty sure that's wrong.

I am in total agreement with Bob h, until we make the punishment so severe, these absolute idiots are going to keep having these horrific crashes. While driving the streets and highways, most of these pinheads, and that is what they are. that I see are mostly young people, not all, But most. The courts must do as Bob h says and give stiff fines and impound the vehicle for a year. What don't the stupid people understand, ONLY severe punishment will work. Do you think it is too harsh, and infringes on the pinheads right to talk and drive? then I hope they hit you next. because it is the bleeding heart pinheads who do not agree with severe punishment that should pay the price. this is only my opinion.
This would really make a huge difference in helping the green cause as well, In kelowna alone there would be hundreds and hundreds more pinheads riding the bus and biking and even walking to school and work. They may even have to learn how to get up early enough to get where they are going. After a year of this they would lose their pinhead status, sounds like a real good idea to me.
If this sounds too harsh to you then you must be one of the pinheads talking and texting while goin down the road.It is very easy ,most of the time for investigators to find out if you were on your phone at the time of an accident you were involved in, co'mon let's fix the problem instead of complaining about it., Hey it may even save some lives,Ya think?

Good to hear that you are recovering. The consequences could have been far worse. But please explain what caused you to drift over into the right ditch then over-correct to cross the centre line into oncoming traffic very shortly after you were seen reaching into your pocket for "something". If it wasn't distracted driving (electronic device or not) then there was definitely a lack of due care and attention (still a.k.a. a distraction) that occurred.

And that would really suck for the victims. (void insurance due to illegal driving.

KL3, Just maybe he was reaching for a smoke or whatever and hooked the curb causing him to over compensate. Maybe he was reaching for again whatever. Friend of mine, many years ago said he wanted to buy my car for his wife. Don't like to sell to family or friends but did. A while later I heard she was hurt in a car accident. Turns out she reached down to pull the rug mat away from the brake pedal and her left hand pulled her into oncoming traffic. Always felt guilty about that.

Yup. All very plausible. And all things that one should pull over to do because while a driver is doing all of those things (which many of us have done ourselves) they are not paying attention to the road and, as such, are "distracted". Electronic devices are not the only forms of distraction out there that can cause collisions. They are just the Johnny Come Lately of distractions.

Just a point of interest on distracted drivers, if we are going to penalize drivers, and rightly so, should we also have laws against the billboards and signs that cause identical distractions ? Drivers are continually distracted by signs, adds, flashing lights and even people on the side of the road waving Pizza signs around.

There is a HUGE difference between billboards, lights and people on the side of the road. The Pinheads DO NOt see these things because they are to busy lookin at their crotch tryin to text, And again the cops can figure out real quick if you were on your phone or not at the time of the accident If you are PAYING attention while driving you can read billboards see pedestrians and even see other cars DUH.And if your are a GOOD driver you will know whats around your vehicle at all times, but, again if you are staring at your crotch..........
