Who knows where bikers, good or bad, go when they die?
But before that happens, all bikers should visit Hog Heaven, a.k.a. Port Dover on Friday the 13th.
That’s when bikers from all over North American — and beyond — descend upon the Lake Erie fishing port, population about 6,500. Even in the dead of winter, the hardest-core riders make the trek.

With perfect July weather, the town was looking forward to more than 50,000 motorcycles and 150,000 people showing up today, which would be a record turnout at what's already said to be the biggest one-day motorcycle rally in the world.
This is no Marlon Brando “Wild One” invasion. Everyone from outlaw “one-percenter” clubs to Christian bikers jam the streets in harmony and as much peace as you can expect from devotees of the “loud pipes save lives” philosophy. (Four-wheelers are welcome… to park elsewhere.)
Motorbikes with car engines, sidecar units with wheelchair access, trikes fitted with barbecues…they’re all on the streets of Port Dover.
Harleys predominate but there are European classics, Japanese café racers, outrageous choppers, weird and wonderful three-wheelers and a smattering of motor scooters.

And usually a few cops on pedal cycles.
It all dates back to Friday, Nov. 13, 1981, when local rider Chris Simons and a couple of dozen friends got together at the town’s former Commercial Hotel. They had such a good time, they decided to do it again.
And again.
The rest is biker history.
