Sockeye or red salmon has a higher oil content and are usually harvested in the North Pacific and Arctic oceans, and regions near California. Once cooked, flakes tend to be medium in size and rich in flavor.

Humpback salmon, better known as pink salmon, is the smallest Pacific salmon in North America, and are less oily and milder tasting.

Nutritionally, Sockeye salmon and Pink salmon are similar. Both are rich in the healthy omega-3 fatty acids that play a crucial role in brain function – possibly warding off depression – as well as cardiovascular health.

Per 3.5-oz. serving:
Sockeye salmon has 167 calories, 21 grams protein, 9 grams fat and 62 mg cholesterol.
Pink salmon has 153 calories, 26 grams protein, 5 grams fat and 94 mg cholesterol.

I've smoked pinks for friends and I've done sockeye hundreds of times for us . I'll empty the drip pan 2 to 1 when doing the pinks.

Tried NuPasta with tomato meat sauce. Smelt a little funny but tasted fine. Unfortunately it's quite expensive.

Left over southwest quinoa black bean salad, always better the second day, bacon wrapped grilled shrimp, and it's wine Wednesday.
