Thank goodness for REM in the 80's and 90's. Loved that band.

He's sounds a bit like an old favourite Nick Drake.

^ I LOVE the Cult, Smokey. I saw them on that tour, in Hamilton (Lenny Kravitz opened) and on the Sonic Temple tour as well.

Here's a Cult song many people haven't heard - this is the original version, which got scrapped & re-recorded. They had actually recorded an entire album, titled "Peace", but they decided they wanted a heavier sound. So, most of the songs were entirely re-done, some were scrapped totally... then they released the album: Electric. I have a box set of which 1 disc is the entire totally original Peace album. It's awesome!

Anyway, I came here originally to post this: every time someone opens the door of my beer fridge, this song plays:

Saw the Black Crows in concert, love the sound two steel guitars can make if played right.

Also saw Skynyrd in concert and while I cringed at their politics, loved thier music and the two steel guitars.

Fridge music! Jealous...

This could almost be another topic but if you were as lucky, "what would your beer fridge song be?"

I'm still not sure but would throw this on as a filler.

I'm glad you guys liked Slough Feg. Great classic-sounding metal band; they're very highly regarded by other metal acts & peers. Also, the singer/guitarist is a philosophy professor!

Talking about concerts: For the longest time, the best concert experience I had ever had was both times I saw Pink Floyd. But then I saw these guys 3 years ago, and they totally blew me away. I can't see anyone topping it. The sound was even better than on the album. It was more powerful than I was prepared for. Words defy the overwhelming experience that is Godspeed You! Black Emperor live...

Talk about powerful
