-fluffy- wrote:I watched another movie in the "Jesse Stone" series last night and these things just keep getting better. Tom Selleck plays the lead in this series of eight made-for-TV movies and I think at this point I'm going to start over and watch the whole series in proper order. Selleck plays a flawed, emotionally struggling small town cop with impressive depth, the murder mysteries seem at times to be more of a backdrop to to the character plays. A clever, quiet and immensely viewable series, not the usual parade of chase scenes and explosions that seem to have taken over much of the screen over recent years.

I would agree, Jesse Stone series here a list in order of release:

1) Stone Cold 2005
2) Night Passage... 2006 a prequel to Stone Cold
3) Death in Paradise 2006
4) Sea Change 2007
5) Thin Ice 2009
6) No Remorse 2010
7) Innocents Lost 2011
8) Benefit of the Doubt 2012

It a shame only the first one is on Netflix Canada.

Good point, Night Passage is the first chronologically, and a good place to start.

Premium Rush; Enjoyable and entertaining. Action packed and fast paced - and a hot girl.

Total Recall; Great science fiction action. Great pace of action and amazing effects. Good remake of original by making it slightly different. So much attention to detail in the futuristuristic cities and other special effects - and two hot girls.

Saw Part 1, The Hobbit, the Unexpected Journey last night.

Is it just me or did they take great liberties with the book? I understand having to tie in the beginning with the LOTR series, so that's a given, but a great many scenes escaped me as being recognizable with the book. I didn't think it has been that long since reading it.

When they say loosely based on a novel, I am sure they truthfully that.

Three? I thought it was going to be two. I did wonder where they'd leave us in part 1.

GordonH, "loosely" shouldn't mean recreating an entire iconic novel. Or at least I didn't think so.

When they stretch it out like that then it's more of a scam to get your money.

In this article Peter Jackson gives an answer as to why there are three movies now instead of two.
