I'm sorry, I should have qualified: "pretty good for Kelowna" ;)
I haven't failed until I quit.

Salads? Ummm. Aren't we talking about Chinese food? Isn't talking about salads kind of like talking about cheese and Chinese food?

Well, not the reason I go to an Asian buffet, but good to have a choice for everyone I guess. I think a sushi bar would have been a better use of space, and more justified of price.
So I love the Okanagan but it's a place best enjoyed from atop a very large pile of $100 bills. - Spocky

Hate to drag up an old thread, but try "Mei Wei Chinese Cuisine" in West Kelowna. My new favourite Chinese place!

Appears that Buffet King just closed down. Too bad Liked that place especially their spring rolls and Spicy Crispy Chicken.
and their Broccoli was always fresh and GREEN.
But I did go to Asian pear last night and it was very good....probably around 200 people basically packed at 6pm.
Maybe since Asian pear went in Buffet king had a hard time...but I would give Buffet king a break and maybe their Lease was up. because they are trying to change the strip mall there....

I've been in the BK since AP opened, and it didn't seem to be hurting business. I stopped by out of curiosity and all the booths and tables are gone. Hopefully they open elsewhere. Still one of the better choices for a buffet in this city IMHO.
I've been to Asian Pear, and it didn't seem like a threat to BK's business. While AP is a HUGE improvement over what was there before, it still struck me as typical Kelowna average, just more expensive. I like what they've done to the place, but I'm sure not going to be paying more for the ambiance in a BUFFET! Hell, I don't pay more for the ambiance anywhere!
Anyone heard what's happening with Cora's? Their old location is becoming a Dollarama.

Speaking of Chinese food:

I thought the Dollarama was going where the chicken place was?
I got Married because I was sick and tired of finishing my own sentences.
That's worked out great for me!

Thats what I thought...Lease came up.
too bad and looking at all the empty space that the stripmall has I would think they would keep them in there because of that fact.

AP was like a school cafeteria. Goodness people can inhale food. Not much selection for chinese food. I will miss the BK, fond memories.

Wok Out is a good option.
If you want mediocre but fairly cheap (lunch buffet is $12) all you can eat place, the Asian Pear Buffet is worth a try. It just opened on Harvey - it must be under a different ownership now, they've renovated and relaunched recently.
