Kringle.......Christmas Pretzel Rings....INGREDIENTS

1 bag of pretzel rings
1 package Hershey’s Kisses
1 package holiday M&M’s
Red and green sugar crystals
DIRECTIONS

Using a lined cookie sheet place the pretzel rings flat.
Place 1 Hershey’s Kiss in the center of each pretzel ring.
Bake at 275 degrees F for approximately 3 minutes—just enough to soften chocolate, not melt it.
Remove from oven. Place a single M&M in the center of each Kiss, pressing down gently so the softened Kiss spreads and fills the center of the pretzel ring.
Sprinkle warm rings with red and green sugars crystals for additional color. Refrigerate for 5-10 minutes (or until chocolate is firm), and serve.

Hasselback Potatoes

potato.jpg

Slicing your potato into thin segments before baking can yield crispy edges, and a soft potato center. Just slice thin segments of the potato about 3/4 of the way through, drizzle oil and salt on the top, and bake at 425° for about 50 minutes. By the time it's done, you should have a unique, relatively-healthy treat. For added flavor, try stuffing some cheese or bacon into the slices during the baking process.

MMMMMMM....Good stuff.

Homemade Ginger Ale
1/2 lb. fresh ginger, with skin, blitzed to pea-sized chunks
1 tbsp. powdered ginger
1/2 tbsp. ground cayenne pepper
3 cups granulated sugar
2 cups water
Club soda

In a medium sized pot, combine chopped ginger, powdered ginger, cayenne, sugar and water. Bring to a boil and remove from heat. Let cool and refrigerate overnight. Strain with a fine-meshed sieve and discard solids. Makes about 3 cups.

To serve, ladle 1/4 cup ginger syrup into glass and add about 1 cup club soda — add more or less soda depending on desired strength.

Yesterday I tried something new it was really good: Cranberries-Apples Oven Pork Chops

You need:
1½ tablespoon sage
1 tablespoon garlic
1 tablespoon thyme
½ tablespoon jamaican pepper
½ tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon soya sauce
1 can cranberries sauce

So, you mix all that stuff together.

Then you cut one red delicious apple which you put at the bottom of your oven pot
Put the pork chops on top of it
Put the sauce on top of the pork chops
Cut another red delicious apple and put it on top of the sauce
Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes
Serve with either rice or potatoes or anything else.

It's a little "Club House" pack I bought at the grocery store. Had all the spices included with it.

Crab dip for Veggies or Chips of your choice.

1 Can of crab pieces, I used fake crab from Costco, about half of one of the pkgs. (there are 4 pkgs )
1/2 C Miracle Whip
1/2 C Green Onion (1 bunch)
1 Pkg Philly Cream Cheese
1/3 C Ketchup
1/3 C Celery (1 stalk)
A wee bit of Real Lemon Juice (squirt on Crab to remove any fishy flavour)

I chopped the onion and celery then mixed in with MW, Ketchup and Crab in the food processor. Then slowly added the Philly till well mixed. I threw in a bit of Garlic powder too just for fun.

Lazy Man's Black Forest Cake

One box of chocolate Devil's Food cake mix

2/3 cup Schloss Kirsch Liquor

1/3 cup water

1 can cherry pie filling

3 eggs

Instructions: Simply mix all the above together in a bowl. Put into a 9"X13" greased baking pan (I suppose round cake pans will do too, but I haven't used them, so you might have to cut back on the baking time) and bake @350 for 40-45 min.

Let cool and it's edible like that, or if you aren't concerned about calories, you can top it with whipped cream. (1 500ml whipped cream, 1/2cup sugar, 1 tablespoon Vanilla Extract, and whip it)

I find it's better if left in the fridge for a day after preparation.

I've also experimented with different cake mixes, and other chocolate/chocolate fudge ones will work, though I think the Devil's Food makes for the best final product.

You don't have to use the booze, (water or milk will work too) but as far as I'm concerned that's the part that seals the deal.

We've got a bag of large stale marshmallows and even though I googled recipes, there are dozens.

Anyone have a good recipe for them?

So here we are in the height of food production, in the valley of plenty, in the presence of so much fresh food coming in so fast it's time to find out what can be done with it all.

I'm searching for a home made ketchup recipe. Anyone got one not full of corn syrup and over sugared? Some is okay.
I'm reading the recipes til my eyes tear up.

I've got a good handle on making home made HP sauce thanks to a co-worker. Made it twice, tweaked a few things.
But now it's time to boot out Heinz ketchup.

^^Any reason you don't want to use a zingy red salsa instead of ketchup? I use salsa on eggs, hot dogs, hamburgers etc...
