all tattooed wrote:Today, at the grocery store, I bought toilet paper.. It was on sale so I was "great" let's bring it home.

I still had rolls left from the last pack I bought in september or october.. and the new rolls looked smaller than the old ones. I looked at the labels... and in less than 6 months, they shrinked the rolls from 500 sheets to 480 sheets for the same price (because I also bought the last pack on sale).

At that rate, in 20 years from now they'll be selling toilet paper sheet by sheit.

What brand of toilet paper is that? I just checked my last purchase - Purex 30 double rolls - 2 ply - 270 sheets per roll. Each sheet is 9.9cm x 10.1 cm.

I see WalMart has Purex on sale this week - 24 double rolls for $9.97. The ad online doesn't say how many sheets. http://flyers.walmart.ca/flyers/walmart ... _code=3042

Zellers also has toilet paper on sale - their house brand Truly - 12 double rolls for $5.99. Again, don't know how many sheets. http://hbc.ca.flyerservices.com/cached_ ... rName=ZELL

SaveOn has White Swan on sale - 12 double rolls, 2 ply, for $5.49. Again, I can't see how many sheets in the package.

Safeway has Royale - 12 double rolls, 2-ply, 280 sheets per roll, $6.99. http://safeway.ca.inserts2online.com/I2 ... 2012Canada

It's the "Premium" brand... usually 19.99$ but often on sale for 16.99$ at Superstore.

I think there's 45 rolls in a pack and they're all individually packed. It's not as soft as Charmin but it's actually a pretty comfortable one... way to speak. And it's double sheet.

Here's the difference between the two rolls:

I actually find Walmart to be MORE expensive than Superstore for food on many many many things. And Superstore is sometimes too expensive compared to Eastern Canada.

Like if 6.99$ compared to 8.99$ reg for PC marble cheeze is really a deal LOL. 3.99$ would be a deal, regular 6.99$ for Kraft cheese (they don't sell it here).. I'm not talking about quaker Barrel.. that ain't good cheese.

Does anyone noticed also that cheese went from 600g to 500g... but they kept the same lengh of packing.. except now there's about 1 inch of extra plastic at the end of the cheese brick?

Costco is great but I'm only the one in my household so they sell too big for what I need.

THIS is what I call deals and real sales, not available under the sunshine tax area:

(And water is really 3$.. with all taxes included it's only 3.45$!, not 8$ because of freaking deposit and eco fee)

I consider buying bottled water is a form of tax on stupidity. No matter what deal you can get on it - it's still stupid.

I call it useful when you travel a lot and you do a lot of road. Tap water isn't always available.

When Target opens where Zellers is, Sobeys is the grocery contractor they will be using ...

http://sob.ca.flyerservices.com/cached_ ... erName=SOB

There's three Sobeys stores in BC now - Invermere, Golden and Ft St John.

The restaurant will become a Starbucks. That'll hurt a lot of seniors who eat their main meal of the day there now. http://www.castanet.net/news/Business/7 ... -in-Canada

Milk, cheese, etc. are more expensive at walmart (4l is $4.65 compared to $4.59 at safeway.)
I'm talking dry pastas, and Jello and pudding mixes, condiments, etc. If you are a hot dog person, GV all beef hotdogs are actually really good. No greasy mystery meat thing going on, and are under $2.50. Hotdogs are as close as I'll get to purchasing meat at walmart.

Costco isn't really that great for anyone. I only buy certain things there: Meat, coffee, bread, and books. The quality of meat at costco makes any slight increase in price okay to me.

I think there's 45 rolls in a pack..

You just got me thinking. There is only 36 in mine. Where did my other 9 rolls go! I just assumed it was always a 36 pack. Your last purchase was a 45? See, now I'm upset. Why would they suddenly change the size of the packs at costco...

I agree,GF. Starbucks at Target is crazy, as I always thought Target was pretty similar to Zellers. Maybe I am mistaken and its more high-end?

we don't buy a lot of meat at Costco, only because it's just the 2 of us, we buy all our meat at a butcher.
Stupid store, the only thing we buy there are the mitchell's all beef wieners, it's a big package but we individually freeze them then bag them, they have a spicyness to them.........walmart, not everything is cheaper there, we flyer shop. Go past all the stores at some point through the week so easy to pick up what might be on sale wherever...

I guess there's 45 because I have 42 rolls of 480 sheets right now and I bought the pack 1 month ago.

That's true for Walmart now that I think about it.

And Costo have delicious apple caramel 5 pound pies at fall for 9.99$ so good :-)

If anyone grocery shops by the flyers regularly, they'll notice the same products keep showing up all the time. Coffee is either Folgers or Maxwell House and it rotates through the flyers every five weeks. Sanitary pads are always Stayfree or Always but never Kotex or even the house brand. Various meat specials rotate as well - especially Maple Leaf Prime chicken parts and some beef cuts. Brand name canned soups and veggies rotate as well as frozen prepared fish packages (High Liner and Bluewater which are both packaged in China but caught in Canadian water and Janes frozen prepared meats). In the pharmacies, the same brands and products keep showing up in the flyers, too.
