Tassimo or Kuerig?

Post by banjr89 »

I am looking for opinions on which is a better buy. It's a Xmas gift for my daughter.

Neither....Too much waste. Hamilton Beach sells one that you put your own coffee into a little basket. i love it! and much better for the enviroment.

Ditto what WW said - too much waste. All that single serving stuff is also too expensive. Can your daughter afford that expense?

We have a Tassimo at work, and I have a Tassimo knockoff I got off freecycle. That being said, go Keurig.

Tassimo is much more limited for flavours, and as far as I know we don't have anything resembling the "k-cup" option. If you buy a k-cup, you can use your own coffee in your Keurig.

Tassimo has had a recall for defective pods - I gather there were some steam burns resultant. I don't know if Keurig has had any recalls.

And that is the extent of my information; hope it was helpful. :124:

Thank you for the info. I know Kuerig has a lot more options, but it only seems to be the flavoured coffee and specialty teas. Tassimo has the cappuchino and espresso, and I know she likes those. This would not be something she would use on a daily basis, but as a treat. Espresso makers are so expensive, so I thought this would be a better route. It's just trying to pick the one that will get the most use arg.

You can get Starbucks coffee for Kuerig.

I only drink 1 cup a coffee a day and find that the hamilton beach coffee maker makes the perfect cup.

We have had a Keurig for several years and use the K- cups with Tim Hortons coffee.

Love it.

I made my coffee in the pot as weak as sex in a Canoe.. took me awhile to get used to the " rush" of real coffee! REally like my Tassimo, picked it 'cause it matched the new house ( I am so shallow it hurts)

Kuerig was our choice, you can buy the reusable pod and filter and make your own blends,,, cheaper, they do have a lot of flavours and those can be ordered on line, also mixed boxes of cups are sold in some local stores including Costco, not all that cheap, but for a special coffee to get away from the coffee pot the kuerig cups are abouts 62 cents each or less. If you want to drink just that and no more coffee pot it can be pricy then but we dont use ours every day. Just when we want something different and dont feel like brewing a whole pot of coffee.
It would be a nice gift. We have a basket with several choices of flavoured pods and I just snatch one and surprise myself. And yes Kuerig does hot chocolate and teas as well. mmmm pumpkin,,, cinnamon buns,,,

London Drugs often puts the Tassimo on special - watch or even ask at customer service
