Very true, it does appear both Plant & Page were very much impressed by the performance

That's a very good cover, but I still vote for the original by Led Zeppelin.

Here is one that I was going to ask, but in the process of looking up the original realized that Rod Stewart was not the originator.

Original (or so I thought):

Cover by Cheryl Crow:

I love Cat Stevens and I like his version but I think Rod did the best version of this song (even though this is not my favorite Rod Stewart phase - I'd need to go back to The Faces for that) Also one pretty decent version people probably heard a lot on AM radio if they were around in the seventies was by a Canadian named Keith Hampshire.

Sheryl Crow's version is okay I guess, although I think it (and especially the vid) is a little cheesy. She definitely looks better in a short skirt than either Rod or Cat would though.

Sheryl Crow's version of first cut is the deepest.

With the big country act in Kelowna this week, let's ask a country question.

Take this job and shove it.

This is a tough one, great song in both incarnations. "The Sound of Silence"

Original by Simon and Garfunkel

or

Cover by Disturbed

Having listened to both several times, I'm leaning toward the Disturbed cover. It has more of a depth to it, the original almost sounds tinny to me.
I haven't failed until I quit.

All I hear is an angry guy yelling and the longer the song goes on the worse it sounds. But hey, to each their own.

52 years later, and Simon and Garfunkel still have it!

I like them both but they are very different so tough to compare. Would agree though, I like the original too.

Interesting that Sturgill changed the lyric from "don't know what it's means when I say - he's the one", to "don't know what it means to love someone". Apparently had received permission from nirvana's camp to make the change.

I absolutely love this song. Partly because it's a great song, but also because when I was a kid, we used to go to town dances, and this was the band's signature tune, and it really livened up the place....

Johnny B Goode: Chuck Berry

or AC/DC

or Michael J. Fox
