Just watched "A Futile and Stupid Gesture" on Netflix. Easy to pass by this movie unless you are old enough to have lived in the National Lampoon era of humour. The movie is about Doug Kenney who with a friend from Harvard, Henry Beard started the iconic magazine. Doug co-wrote Animal House and Caddyshack and if you decide to watch this you will see the creation of Saturday Night Live (SNL). This movie took me back 45 years to a time when I could not wait for the next edition of National Lampoon..........with the culmination being the "High School Yearbook" issue. Doug Kenney was a comic genius of his time and if you find this movie engaging, look up the 1981 Esquire Magazine story about him.

GREAT MOVIE and a fitting tribute to a very funny man who suffered a great deal.

I remember having a garage sale in 2009 and the first person coming over to check things out went straight to the stack of National Lampoon magazines........."HOW MUCH?"..........took them all, including the High School Yearbook.

We burned through all ten episodes in a few days. Good story. Great special effects!

I'm putting it on my "to watch list" now. Altered Carbon eh?

After watching so many great shows, it's hard to know what direction to go with next. So we're breaking out our seventh season of Game of Thrones.

Nope, it's an HBO series, so won't be on Netlfix. We bought the boxed set and tore through it fairly quickly, which means we'll have to watch again for all the stuff we missed because it went late at night.

Well worth owning it, in my opinion.

You do need to watch from the beginning. I agree with Queenie. The box set would be well worth the price
- and make sure to get the (second half of?) the last season when it comes out That's our plan :smt045

eta: still, the one box set I would really like to get is "Vikings". There's another one you must see from the beginning

We watched Altered Carbon last night.

Shades of Blade Runner in it but refreshing too.

Sleeve, ha ha, I'd like a new sleeve too. Make me a Swedish model? [icon_lol2.gif]

There are too many "Sleeves" without Brains wandering the forum now.

We need less Sleeves and more Brains!
So I saw a bumper sticker today that said, I'm a Veterinarian so I drive like an animal.
I suddenly realised how many Proctologists are on the road!

Nope, how about The Clover Paradox? It looks good. Still gotta finish Altered Carbon.
