I am five short weeks away from harvesting fresh lettuce, as long as this warm pineapple express trend keeps up.

As for today's seemingly unexpected wet snowfall, all it's doing is adding much needed moisture.

I haven't bought a bell pepper, for like, forever. $4.99/lb? Omigod.
As WW3 develops, no one is going to be dissing the "preppers." What have you done?

I just ordered one of these.

I've got deer where I live and not nearly enough sunny window space to grow anything indoors. Hopefully this will provide a single gal enough lettuce, herbs, tomatoes, and peppers.

Oooh those are neat.
for those of you/us living in the north okanagan this program is fairly decent deal. http://www.goodfoodbox.net/
Sample Good Food Box

5lbs Potatoes
1lb Onions
2lbs Carrots
1 Romaine Lettuce
1 Bunch of Broccoli
1 BC Long English Cucumber
2lbs Yams
1lb Roma Tomatoes
3lbs Mac Apples
1lb Red Grapes
12 Oranges

All for $16
The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it.

Have to like the $1 program at the store. Yesterday $4.00 got me:

1 pineapple
1 cantaloupe
4 Honeycrisp apples (1 had a little nick on the bottom)
5 bananas
1 beefsteak tomato
5 large on-the-vine tomatoes (1 had a small soft spot)
4 heads broccoli
Dance as if no one's watching, sing as if no one's listening, and live everyday as if it were your last.

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain.

WOW! That's pretty good - I bought a small flank steak for $9.62 yesterday and made a meal for two out of this with what I had on hand for sides.

Screw cauliflower. I bought the best pineapple I've tasted in my life at Urban Fare for $2.99.

I broke down and bought white mushrooms, but only because they were prime, clean and large. Finally worthwhile in other words.

I've already been able to harvest a few herbs from my first crop. Pretty handy considering the grocery store sells a small bunch for $3.00, when generally you only need a small amount at a time and the rest goes to waste.

Is that not one of the most frustrating things? LOL
Nobody wants to hear your opinion. They just want to hear their own opinion coming out of your mouth.

Right?! And dry herbs really don't cut it in recipes that call for fresh. Like a nice mojito!
