I have both kinds of music. Country, and western.

Haha. My favourite country artists probably are Crystal Gayle (her old stuff), Dolly Parton (her old stuff), Waylon and Willy and the Boys:) (Used to sing 'Mama Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys' to my son when he was a toddler).

Then there's Bonnie Raitt, class of her own.

I love rock & roll, and I love the blues. I like songs that mix both influences, and I really appreciate when they get the saxophone involved. Two of my favorite bands who really deliver with this are George Thorogood and the Destroyers, and the Rolling Stones. When music was music, Elvis was King and Wanda Jackson was Queen. I play piano with an amateur oldies band, we play happy hours and what-not at old folks homes; my favourite piece is Let's Have A Party which both Elvis and Wanda did (not together). Wanda was called the female Elvis and it has been written that they dated for a while. She was something for hetero males and she's still singing in her 80s according to google (or last time I looked).

I'm partial to almost anything good. 60's start of rock "n" roll, 70's and 80's rock 80s and 90's metal, country new and old, blues, jazz and even certain opera and classical.

The almost part is I just say no to most hip hop rap *bleep*. But that's what my parents thought about what I listened to when I was younger.

Music is SO subjective to the listener. No one can ever tell someone else that their choice in music is wrong. I mean people do it every day, but that is just wrong.

This band just caught my attention...Cindy Lou Who? Yes, that's the little girl from the Grinch movie.

Kid if you will but there are other genres of music, that also contain lyrics of struggle and strife, yet are far more annoying, none as bad as rap though in my opinion.

Seriously though doesn't every form of music tell a story?

The Beatles certainly told stories of peace, so it seems to me that the main difference is the instruments involved in the presentation.

I'll listen to Rock as well as Country but I'd have to admit these days Country ranks higher, but the biggest reason for that is I can actually hear and understand the lyrics, as opposed to being screamed at, and often not having a clue as to what was said.
