Machines, Modern Farming = Good Food = Cheap Food?

That's a tomato harvester. You'd have to be nuts to want to pick tomatoes by hand when a machines can do it more cheaply. Anything that saves us money is good. It's not that we are running out of labor, because we got millions of people on the planet that can do the labor. It's just that it makes no sense not to use a machine.

^ that's a raspberry harvester. I saw one in Sumas, Wa. Have you ever picked raspberries? Yeah. So you know how good machines are.

Machines used to pack apples. But don't worry, we always need someone to do the low paid work. Robots and machines will never eliminate "Work." So don't worry about it. But do the apples need to be cosmetically perfect? Apples are one of the more heavily sprayed fruits we eat, because we like our apples to be shiny and clean - we eat more carcinogenic pesticides. That's the problem - not robots and machines.

^ See? Even with all our modern machines, we still need low paid labor in agriculture. We always need slaves to do the hard work.

But here's what we need to worry about:

We need to start worrying when modern farming methods starts putting more Roundup into our food, and we start eating more and more Roundup (and other chemicals) That's what we need to start worrying about - not robots and machines.

^ When we start spraying our food with Roundup (weed killer on our food) just to make it "Easier" to harvest, then we have to start worrying.

what do you think? Should people care about the food we eat, or should we just shovel down our mouths without asking questions?
