Tom Petty, 66, Rushed to Hospital

Post by ferri »

I've always liked his music. :(

Tom Petty was found unconscious and not breathing in his Malibu home Sunday night after suffering a full cardiac arrest, TMZ reports. Law enforcement officials tell the outlet that the 66-year-old rock legend was rushed to UCLA Santa Monica Hospital where he was put on life support and his pulse returned. Later the decision was reportedly made to remove him from life support after it was found that he was lacking brain activity.

"UPDATE: 2:35 p.m.

TMZ is retracting reports that Tom Petty has passed away, but it's unlikely the rock star will live through the day.

Petty remains on life support and has a do-not-resuscitate order on him.

He was taken to hospital after being discovered unresponsive and in cardiac arrest.

ORIGINAL: 1:15 p.m.

TMZ is reporting famed American rocker Tom Petty has died.

Petty was 66.

He was rushed to the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital from his home in Malibu, Calif., in cardiac arrest.

Sources say Petty was taken off life support when it became apparent he had no brain activity.

Petty was was found unconscious and not breathing Sunday night."

TMZ never ONCE reported that he had died.

TMZ, which originally reported the death, retracted its reporting, which had apparently been based on false information from a Los Angeles police official.
