How did it all work out? Did you have to reach for a fine red or call 911?

Naw....I survived. But this morning and into this late afternoon.......I was constantly reminded of my errors.

Lesson learned, I am anxiously awaiting the reply from Health Canada about my suggestion though.

Get masking tape and a felt pen to label items before throwing in freezer! (date it as well)

Then at least 5 years down the road you will know what you are throwing out.
Deja Poo, the feeling I've heard all this crap before!

Well....today I am going to make cinnamon buns. Not the cake kind, the bread kind my Mom used to make.

Found a recipe, watched a Youtube.......what's this about growing Yeast in the bread? Should have planted some last Spring?

Okay, got the yeast, ladies at the grocery store are making fun of me again. The one lady actually doubled over in laughter when I told her I was making buns. The other one had to get a tissue because, I don't know.....maybe she is sick because her eyes were watering a lot, but she looked healthy.

Got all the stuff and started mixing. I got 1/2 way through and my mixer could do no more. Off to Costco for a mixer.

Back from Costco, $380 for a new mixer. Step #1 complete....dough to rest for 10 minutes. You would think that this dough was working really hard. I NEED a rest. This "90 minute" bun recipe has already taken 2 1/2 hours and I haven't even turned the oven on yet.
It has cost me nearly $500, I should have just gone to Timmies and rummaged around the the big green bin out back. I hear there is some good stuff in there for free.

It's 2:10, should we call 911 claiming someone on the net must be covered in yeast blobs and trying to make it to the door?

Well...NO.
that 10 minute rest period has now turned into 40 minutes and that dough has not doubled in size as the Youtube said it would. I am 10 more minutes away from giving up.
That recipe must be flawed. I did everything according to the directions. Does yeast hibernate during the Winter?

THAT'S IT....I gave up, it did nothing and now I am mad as bear with a burnt head.
I thew the offending dough made with faulty instructions in the garbage. I guess I put a little too much enthusiasm into the throw, it hit the back of the can under the sink and tipped it over.
I swear, I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried.
Now I have a couple of days worth of veggie peelings, used coffee filters and grounds, and a whole bunch of last week's leftovers all scattered about under my sink.
I really don't think that the shop vac and air compressor are going to be useful to clean this mess up.

I have had my ego, self confidence and pride, all completely destroyed in one very long afternoon. I should take that mixer back to Costco and tell them that it did not live up to my expectations.

I still have a bowl full of margarine mixed with brown sugar.

You must have bought the hibernating yeast instead of fast acting.

Right......I thought that the 5 HP shop vac would be helpful. I believe I mentioned this before and this tool should not be used inside a home? If I didn't, don't do it.
1st of all, there is a 1/2 acre of the counter top covered in flour awaiting the dough to be rolled out upon it.
2nd. That very powerful shop vac has a top discharge exhaust vent.
3rd. You have your concentration centered on the under-sink cabinet, and am not really paying attention to the exhaust port.
4th. You are really mad and have had a couple of beers to help settle your nerves. After all it took 50 minutes of watching for your dough to rise.
5th. You just spent $500 on a dozen cinnamon buns that just ended up in the garbage.

Sorry, I digress, back to 3a......You have just finished sucking up all that mess from under the sink, you stand up straight and see that the shop vac has taken all of that loose flour from the counter-top and flung it into the air and created a big white cloud that fills the entire kitchen and it is difficult to breath.

Now picture a bear with a burnt head, that just stumbled into a hornet's nest. I am taking this time to write this, while waiting for the air to clear and the flour dust to settle.

Do you think so? The package said "traditional". I am going to either go to Safeway or make a really large purchase from my local IGA. The ladies at IGA keep laughing at me and I am just a stranger at Safeway.
Reminds me of when I was married and had to go to the store for my wife and buy Tampons. They usually cost me about $40. I couldn't just go in to buy 1 package of Tampons, I had to also buy $20 worth of meat, milk (whether I needed it or not), french fries, and an assortment of bulky items that I could hide the tampons in the pile on the belt.
