Here is a link to Marketplace tv show that states that pet medications are not regulated in Canada.

Chopin adopted me and never cost any vet bills til his health failed after 8 years. I got a quote given to me by my vet's assistant and I signed it.

Right now he's on pallative care with hydrotherapy. Last night he took a turn for the worst but we are letting him dictate the terms of what happens next. He's resting on my lap right now, I wish I never pushed him off before because he's the only cat that's ever done this: computer = lap time.

Kidney failure is tough. They lose so much weight and our job is to help him regain it. Try that with a case of AD he suddenly won't eat but will eat the chicken and tuna with liquid.

He's worth it. I'm sad, losing three kitties in two years is tough. But they need homes and I'll adopt over and over to give a kitty a home. Vet bills? Who cares.

Sorry to hear about Chopin.

Foxy just had her teeth cleaned and 3 growths removed. Two small ones on one eye and a small one on her side. (Nothing cancerous) Cost us almost $700.

Thanks, he's eating AD food but not too much more.

To make matters worse, we have to inject him with a water solution designed to help him. And he hates it.

Heart breaking and makes me tear up. Us too adopted again....we need them in our family.

With the loss of 3 pets in 5 months last summer, we questioned the cost of vet care and we have switched vets. We get the same quality care and great relationship with our new vets for cheaper.

Our 140lb dog needed to be put down and it cost us $500 last October. They sent us a $50 bouquet of flowers....this was the nail that drove us to find a new vet. We didn't need part of that $500 to go towards flowers.

Is my pet worth it....YES but if I can get quality care at a lower price then that is where we are going.

I know when my Dad moved to Vancouver Island ,from Vancouver , he had an awful shock. He did shop around and found a really good vet at a better rate. In the case of Vets , more expensive isnt always better.

Just curious is anyone has dealt with Boucherie Animal Hospital on the Westside lately..
Im taking my 7 year old dog in tomorrow since she hasnt been eating for 2 days and throwing up still. Im worried about cost of course, but are they reasonable at least?
Everything I read seems to indicate maybe a blockage of some sort in her digestive tract. Who knows, but its hard to know what to do when they quote anything because she is older for her breed (bulldog)...

I took my cat there once, but was not that impressed. I use Westbank Vet Hospital now.

I LOVE Boucherie...Dr. Dube is my favorite ever! Took my old girl to Westbank Animal Hospital last year..they barely even touched her, said she was ok and sent me home...She was still getting sick so I took her to Boucherie..He did a ful exam, and found the cause of her problem. She's all better now...He's also very reasonable priced!

Nikitae72: Don't believe everything you read online about what conitions they may have. It will drive you crazy...Keep track of the symptoms...And if you can afford it, by all means, get blood work done...We've started doing it once a year for our older dog to just keep an eye on things..It is expensive but worth it if you can catch something in time....

My friend loves Rose Valley Vet .. she takes her dog there.. and I noticed the vet there has donated his services to help a disadvantaged boy and a dog he adopted.
