Veterinarian costs?
Does anyone know how much it would cost to go the (local) vet just to get something checked out?

My vet charges about $65 for a visit.

Costs vary from Vet to Vet on all services. Best thing to do is get out the phone book, call each one and ask what they charge. If you're new to the area or new to pet ownership and haven't dealt with any of the area Vets, I would ask around and get feedback on the different Vets. They are not all created equal.

I took our cat to Fairfield Animal Hospital last week for an ear infection. General Exam fees were $59.50.

My dog needed surgery and due to the cost was unable to afford it at the time- I was told about a financal plan where I could make payments each month- I applied which they made me feel like I was jumping through hoops- the plan could not go into my name but instead my husbands so this took more time. Our payments were 68 dollars a month and I will never take this route again- It was taken out of the bank each month and the only way I can find out if its paid for my now is to phone the company. The interest rate is extremely high.
Years ago when my chuhuhwa was giving birth she had to have an emerg. c section as one puppy was unable to get head out when being born- it cost us 12 hundred dollars to have this done and when I recieved the bill everything was itemised and I was even charged for the doctors white coat which was 35 dollars- this was at Fairfield animal hospital. Since then I have used Carrington hospital on the west side and find Dr O Reilly one of the best vets.
