Reporting a post

Postby Mr. Personality » Oct 13th, 2011, 10:31 am

That little option of being informed when a report is dealt with...does that actually do anything? Am I supposed to receive a PM of some sort? Is it just there for looks?
I wonder this because, I've reported a few posts and they have been dealt with. The only reason I know this, however, is by going back and looking even though I've indicated I want to be informed when it is dealt with.
So who's not doing their job here?

Well of course if Mr. Personality makes a request then the whole bloody world ought to come to a grinding halt until it's dealt with.

You've got quite the grandiose perception of self there.

You report a post. It gets dealt with at some time. When it is dealt with, you get an automatic email stating a moderator has received the report. That's it. That's all you get and that's all anybody gets.
You cannot reason someone out of a position that they did not use reason to arrive at.

You obviously don't understand my concern.

You see, I figured it was something like this, however, I wouldn't know as I have never received one of these automatic emails. Ever.

If you don't even understand the post, why would you reply? Why would you reply with an insult?
Talk about a grandiose perception of self.

Do you receive other emails from Castanet, such as when you get a PM? Have you checked your junk mail folder?

I get a little snarky when people jump all over the moderators for 'not doing their job'. Their job is volunteering and they have to put up with an awful lot of crap. The original post could have easily been reworded into a simple question rather than an accusatory attack on the mods.

Thanks Nebula. And Mr. Personality, it has nothing to do with someone doing or not doing their job. When you report a problem, once it is handled the system automatically sends an email to whatever email address you used to register your account. If you are not receiving the notifications, I would suggest that you check that the email listed on your account is the correct one.

And that it's not filtering emails into your junk folder.

I've checked your settings, and you should be receiving the confirmations. I have no idea at this point why you're not, but will look into it.
