I wasn't even aware that this thread existed. I am saddened for sure to hear of her passing and heartened to read what so many wrote about what a wonderful person she was too so many and in so many ways.

I am glad to have seen a picture of her. She was different from how I saw her in my minds eye as it usually is.

Many times I wanted to reach out and ask where she had gone but didn't for some reason. I loved her posts and one of my proudest moments as a forum member was the first time she liked one my posts.

I always looked forward to her posts on whatever topic was hot at the time. She had a way with words.

I miss her more now.

Actually, Gramma Freddie was what her grandson called her one time when he was mad and frustrated.

Grammafreddy and I had a mutual friend who just wrote her first book at age 93, and for the 8th week in a row it's in the 10 top seller. Currently at #6. Grammafreddy would have enjoyed this book for sure.

Yesterday I made a mistake. An error of literacy, the sense in a headline escaped me and I posted wrongly.

I said 2500 homes were being evacuated in the Rock Creek area.

Several posters came out and corrected me, I mean it's 2500 hectares which got burned, 200 homes evacuated.

What no one knows is that there are few posters who can make me feel as badly for mis-posting as me imagining Grammafreddy's rolling pin whacking me. Sue is still out there, I swear.

She is sorely missed :( Gramma had a way of keeping everyone on their toes.

Queen K, I should have posted this last night. You're beating yourself up because you think you read the headline wrong. I have to tell you, I'm not convinced you're wrong about the headline you saw.

I too would swear the headline read 2500 houses burned. In fact I was so convinced I saw that headline that later I went back to see if the story was edited and I saw it corrected. I am convinced that for a brief period, the headline read 2500 houses burned. I have no proof though so that was either the case (the headline was wrong) or I somehow managed to read the headline wrong. I have to admit it happens.

Me too. We were planning a pregnancy shoot when I was 9 months along but couldn't connect.

I regret that I did not take her up on her offer to go out to take photos. I miss her much more than I would imagine considering we never met in person. I hope her family knows how many lives she touched while she was with us.

The saddest thing about her awesome photography is that the family said they had no idea how to access her most of her thousands of photos. They had some printed but her vision was not attainable to them. Her albums were digital and passwords were gone with her.

And that is what will happen to most of us if we don't get printing.


Yes, her family had printed all the condolences form us Castanet family people who had posted in her obituary here. They had the posts printed and at that door on a table as you walked in. They also talked about how they marveled about how she spent so much darn time with us.

I have a theory about the digital age. Taking digital pictures is so easy that we take thousands upon thousands of pictures. When we are gone, our computers will simply be destroyed or reformatted because no one has the time and energy to sort through 10s of thousands of pictures to pick out the very best ones. At least with film you had to be very discerning on which pictures you took (because of the price of developing), and thus passing those on to the next generation was much more manageable.
