Lower socio-economic areas do not do as well.

Many schools had fundraisers for trips that teachers had promised to sponsor. Then the teachers broke their promises because of job action that was "for the kids." Go figure.

What a perfect example of hypocrisy! The teachable moment is here: You scream when you think that someone in the Liberal government might have broken a promise but you support your union buddies for breaking promises to kids! And then you have the gaul to parrot "It's all about the kids." Thanks for providing that teachable moment George. I hope you learned something!

Trying to justify a broken promise to kids by suggesting that those kids will survive or that the person who promised something isn't getting paid to fulfill the promise should tell people all they need to know about the BCTF. Thanks, once again, for proving my point!

When they actually do it but when they break their promise and don't do it that's not amazing at all. In fact it's shameful. I did a lot of volunteer labour over the years and I never broke my promise regardless of the job action. I commend those teachers who break the now discredited BCTF "code of ethics" by helping students out of regular classroom hours, attending grad ceremonies, fulfilling a promise that they've made to take a field trip or to coach a team despite the job action. I salute those teachers. Keep posting George. You just keep proving my point over and over and over.

Hear hear well said .No greater praise can I offer to the teacher who carries on despite what their union tells them to do .Hooray to the teacher who leaves all aspects of job action away from children.We do our very best we can for our kids and the system is working against that .Are we just going to take it up the hallway.I don't just want my kid to survive I want him to THRIVE. I'm protesting Feb 14th .cant wait to here from my mpp.

Of course it wont .it will plant the seeds of change.You are right we will never get rid of the unions but why cant their role change.Teachers have got it good compared to most .Their wages are good and so is their benefit and retirement. Most are doing with less.Instead of trying to make their job sweeter ,Make them better teachers.Offer more training so they are better able to handle 30 kids and ones with special needs.The times have changed and so must the unions role or we will kill them.

"Just because someone has the right doesn't make it right" is a much better credo than "might makes right." When your arguments about it being "all for the kids" evaporate and you're left with nothing else you fall back on the power of the union which you say is here to stay. Not exactly the moral high ground you're on George so I accept the "piety" label as a compliment.
