Finally – a clear B.C. NDP policy on visible minorities
Finally – a clear B.C. NDP policy on visible minorities

B.C. NDP leader Adrian Dix has been remarkably consistent on foreign workers, particularly if they are not white: he’s against them.
With the Steelworkers Union, Dix led the charge against development of a new coal mine using temporary foreign workers from China after it was established that Canadians with the necessary skill sets were not responding to job ads.
This week, the party has been on the attack against an Indo-Canadian event that will bring millions of dollars in tourism and trade value according to provincial tourism and trade officials.
But finally it seems the NDP have softened their approach. This week Dix has flown to Hollywood where he plans to solve the problem of not enough film productions coming to British Columbia because 37 states and a number of other Canadian provinces are fighting equally hard for a share of a pie that is not growing.
Does anyone have the heart to tell Dix that the tans he will encounter in L.A. are likely to be fake?

There's no cause for alarm in the NDP ranks. I have it on good authority that if the polls get too close, Adrian Dix will back date them to April '13.

Are you suggesting that you support the foreign worker program? If so, why?
As for Canadians lacking the necessary skill sets for this type of work, or failing to apply for the positions, that has already been dis-proven. I'll fish around and see if I can find the link.
VANCOUVER - A mining company that was granted permits to bring 201 temporary foreign workers from China rejected multiple Canadian applicants who had exemplary qualifications, including one person with 30 years experience, say two trades unions after reviewing hundreds of refused resumes.

Yes, when there are no qualified Canadians willing to do the work, then I support economic development using TFWs.
That union worker with 30 years' experience? Yeah, I can just see some table-slamming, bad attitude union loudmouth with crappy references thinking he's entitled to everything under the sun.
If a company needs a qualified worker but some jackass didn't make the cut, the UNION who groomed this loser certainly won't tell you WHY he didn't get hired.
The LAST person I will hire for an opening in my company would be this 30 year union POS, when a young fellow with 6 months' experience and a good attitude will run circles around him and provide much greater value to me.

The union's have been desperately trying to unionize foreign workers, using all of their typical under-handed intimidation tactics, but have so far thankfully been unsuccessful. I expect nutless to bow to his union masters and do all he can to fight this non - union labour source. Heaven forbid people from third-world countries get a taste of a better life, instead of some fat lazy over paid union slob. Or better yet for the bitter socialists, profitable businesses wither and die due to lack of labour, as the fat lazy slobs won't do the work, and nutless and his union overlords cut off all other options.

:coffeecanuck: I’ve regularly seen you clowns default to the ridiculousness in these arguments, but this thread is nothing more than a clear example of pathetic desperation. Good God. Even diagnosed idiots could present a better argument. :dyinglaughing:
Dear paranoid people who check behind your shower curtains for murderers;

That's a good point George. The NDP are still clinging to their racist and sexist quota policy for their nominations. I would say that this disqualifies a lot of good candidates for the NDP but they only seem to attract idiot activists and union drones, so it doesn't really matter. You just can't fix stupid, and that's the core of all NDP policy.
