People that go missing or found dead

Postby gsc » Mar 8th, 2017, 10:15 pm

Ok so during a conversation with a friend today we started talking about all the random people that go missing or just found dead all around the Okanagan. Now I get that we are surrounded by mountains along with forest and well we have wildlife but with all the quading and out door activities in our hills one cant help but think. The other thing is how fast people give up looking and it just becomes a memory? How long should people look before giving up?

I think it depends on the circumstances, place and time. I went through some training to volunteer with COSAR and they have access to some fairly serious resources.

There are others here probably much more more qualified thsn i to comment.

The other factor is cost. ...which is one of the ugliest things to have to manage when youre talking about a human life. Reality, i guess.

Aaron Derbyshire's parents are still searching, looking to find out what happened to their boy. I can't imagine their pain.
I haven't failed until I quit.

Parents never give up. I'm hoping Michael Dunahee will be found one day.

His updated photo may need to be updated soon as well.

I often wonder what the bottom of LO would look like if you could drain it. I think a lot of mysteries would be solved.

I believe we've never seen so many bodies found in a lot of places as the last few months. The Drug Wars might have a bit to do with it, but that can't explain it all.

It seems that random deaths are on the increase. Missing people and random deaths.

22 drownings from 2008 to 2015 and those are the ones that are known.

International Sea Search searched around the bridge area quite a few years ago and brought up a body but it wasn't the one they were looking for.

As you said Fancy, the ones they know about. Without being disrespectful and naming names, I believe that there are several high profile missing persons in the depths.

I read somewhere years ago of a young Aboriginal gal decades ago that went missing
while canoeing one evening from Kelowna to Westside.
The canoe was found, she never was.
This is who the "Lady Of The Lake" was originally named for (in this region)

(I attempted for a few minutes to look this up and found nothing to confirm)

Worse nightmare for parents as a child goes missing, with no idea if child is alive or dead. As days stretches to weeks to years, I can't imagine that kind of pain.
When you have to start compromising yourself and your morals for the people around you, it’s probably time to change the people around you.
