Dispense with Royalty, Now.

So the Queen has fallen ill and can't travel.
This is just me okay, once this particular Queen has passed to the other side, all Kingdoms need to revert to being Republics.
No more Royalty being the welfare cases sucking on Britian or the rest of the World's wealth. Prince Charles should renounce the throne and begin the process of making the United Kingdom into Great Britain.

I guess you would need to change your name too.

My Wife just stopped and said "you weren't even listening were you?"
I thought to myself, that's a weird way to start a conversation.

Nope, a female cat is a 'queen" and the "K" comes from Keesa, my favourite kitty of all time. So, Queen K comes from cats.
But I think it's time the English Royalty is further removed from the English coffers and that of other countries. Time to end it. Period.

I thought a queen was some dude dressed as a woman...

Queen Elizabeth has so much munny I bet she has a gaggle of little kids in the basement of Windsor that they harvest organs off of and keep her going.
She'll live to 190.

The obstacle in dropping royals (here in Canada) is the political willingness to open the Canadian Constitution and make the changes that are needed.
Last time Government tried to do anything with our constitution, it ended being a huge mess. So once bitten twice shy.

Re: Dispense with Royalty, Now.
Most Brits love their royals and tradition they represent. Some royals are very engaged in charitable and reputable causes and today even hold real jobs. I say let Brits have their royals for as long as they want.
However, it's time for Canada to let go and severe its ties to the British monarchy once and for all starting with getting rid of governor general and lieutenant governors. But if Harry wants to take up residence in Canada, that's ok by me!

The crown on Netflix is an amazing show and gives great appreciation for Elizabeth's strength and character.

What? She caves and bows down to Tommy and his Parliamentarians every time, in every situation. I wonder if now at her age if she thinks it was all worth it. I'd like to see an honest interview.

Agreed there.

We are glued to it. What happened to Margaret and Peter was a crime. No less.
Never knew about the Fog and the death toll, must be taught in English schools.

Re: Dispense with Royalty, Now.
Can't tell me someone didn't contact someone to do the royals dirty work and get Princess Diana murdered. Otherwise how would Camilla compete being Chuck's new wife and the least photographed woman in the World?

Re: Dispense with Royalty, Now.
So presently the Queen of England is too ill for duty for 11 days. I wonder if she's thinking that she should have married Porchy.
We just finished watching The Crown. A very unflinching and unsympathetic view of her early years.

Queen has never used her position to overrule anything at anytime or anywhere, so her & the rest of royal family.
Are just a symbolic thing

Am I the only one who didn't give a rat's tail about Pippa's wedding?
