Here is a good place to start a search to get out of this Okanagan market, in particular Kelowna. It is really unfortunate that the NDP government is interfering and become the self-appointed nanny.

you know it's incredible to really see so much "fear" in the RE Market because of these 2 new taxes...the B20 rules and 3 interest rate increases (last yr) didn't stir the *bleep* pot as much as these 2 new taxes have...

and what's even weirder, the president of the OK RE Board (Tanis Read) said that only 1.8% of sales in 2016 here were from Foreign Investors...Mr Aj Hazzi says in his article that Speculators only make up 5-6% of our market..

those are pretty puny numbers to be freaking about....unless they are false and it's much higher...and/or they were counting on all Spec-ers and Foreign Investors to get pushed out of Vancouver and flock here where they were untouchable as of Feb 19th 2018..

The reality is that the foreigner tax only hits people once, upon purchase, so the percentage buyers is relevant.
However, the speculation tax affects existing and new property owners. These are people who may have a second home or recreational property and spend significant time *and money* in the area. It is an ill thought out tax.

My wife dragged me to an open house today. Nice newerish house with some yard space in Lake Country.

$650K.

Cheaper than Kelowna but you get to live in the sticks.

It was fun, wasn't it?

Climbing the property ladder as an average Joe, only to have the last few rungs broken right before your eyes by the government.

Did common citizens (and Realturds) really believe they could simply poop in their crusty old Canadian duplex homes they bought 25 years ago and become a millionaire? Tough watching all the paper money blow away, isn't it.

Canadians drinking the housing Kool-Aid for the last couple years are now underwater and entering a decade (probably now two decades) of financial pain.

The Paper Boi is MIA.
Did he take on a bigger route so he could cover his rent?

As Baby Boomers continue to pull out HELOC's to live a lifestyle they otherwise couldn't afford, and in many cases don't deserve... I wonder how many more of these gluttonous posers are leaving debts for their kids and other people to pay.

The excessive debt Canadians hold against their homes isn't going to end well for those that took an extra piece of the cake.
