Our saddest days are when we add up our losses, and losses seem to be our saddest when we lose our best. Proud to be a "Leaf-licker" and I know who else is too. **smiles**

If 600 people in a small town died off in two years, would anyone sit up and take notice?

The difference here is that of these hundreds, many died at home and alone. Not in RV shot up vans.

This is backed up by data.

"The lawsuit aims to recover expenses the city will incur in combating the crisis. In 2016, more than 1,000 people in New York City died of an opioid overdose, according to official data — the highest number on record.

“More New Yorkers have died from opioid overdoses than car crashes and homicides combined in recent years. 'Big Pharma' helped to fuel this epidemic by deceptively peddling these dangerous drugs and hooking millions of Americans in exchange for profit,” Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a statement.

The lawsuit alleges the opioid epidemic was caused by manufacturers’ marketing and by distributors sending prescription painkillers into New York City. That in turn placed a burden on the city for increased substance use treatment services, ambulatory services, emergency department services, inpatient hospital services, medical examiner costs, criminal justice costs and law enforcement costs."

^^ Every City across North America is going to be watching the outcome of this lawsuit. Every one of them has incurred costs stretching out their budgets.

Canada's Vancouver has had them for years and the USA has nothing? Not one? Until now? I am astounded. Truly am.

Seven Ods in three days? I'll bet these weren't out in the street either. But rather, the privacy of their own home.

So sad. The was no RV Bus option for them.

Okay they expanded three days to five days and added two more deaths.

9 in five days is still a lot of deaths.

And I saw the news team interviewing some people on Leon Ave today.

Where does their money come from?
Why are they still getting money if it's govt funds directly to the drug dealer?
Where is the RCMP to round up said dealer?
Why is said dealer allowed to run around?
And why are these people on the street like that allowed to be? At all.

Maybe because this is completely guessing?

Do you have some sort of secret government document that shows exactly what each person in Canada is doing with his / her money or are you just guessing?

Then maybe the government should be handing out debit cards that can only be used for food and rent, no cash. They should also have all the transactions closely monitored.
