Akita and mixes are well known to have a high prey drive - not always best suitable for having cats in the family as is the case with many other breeds.

She seriously has to ask what she should do...How about the right thing if you love all animals and not just pit dogs.

So you are saying genetics cannot be loved/trained out then?

Never put words in someone's mouth - i'm saying what some of the dog sites have said. I'm not a fan of Akitas - don't trust them and wouldn't own one.

If putting animals together - keep an eye on them. If children are around, keep an eye on them too.

I know a really nice akita. Gentle as any dog. I know another one that eats people and pets for fun. I still think its the individual dog . Some breeds are aggressive sure. My shepherd likes to fight. She is a sweetheart though.
Now they want to take our guns away . That would be just fine. Take em away from the criminals first . Ill gladly give u mine. "Charlie Daniels"

I haven't met a shepherd I didn't fall in love with. Personal experiences does colour ones outlook. And that is why I am vocal about responsible dog ownership and laws that come down on those that abuse the privilege of owning a pet.

Thats just it. I know my dogs. I do not bring them to busy dog parks. I keep them away from trouble. It is my fault if they get in a fight.

Someone will know who this dog is:
https://www.castanet.net/edition/news-s ... htm#215033
She says a big, black and white husky cross "came out of nowhere and brutally attacked our little guy."

Lutz had owned the rescue dog for five years and had to have it put down because of its severe injuries.

"They just jumped out of the van and didn't see the other dog coming.... Before he knew it, the other dog had latched on to Buddy."

Lutz says the larger animal was off-leash and not muzzled. Koenig had to kick and pry the dog to free Buddy.

This is why u always leash a bigger dog.

I used to live in that area for many years. The Day farm has all border collies. Its not their dogs . Mr Munson has a big dog but its not a Husky. The owner of the husky does not sound like a responsible owner

The owner is NOT a responsible owner. Hope someone comes forward and identifies this person.

Start another thread and we can discuss it. Although if people did the research since other breed promoters/websites warn of certain behaviours these incidents might not happen. There are exceptions of course which makes it a deadly game of russian roulette.

No need to start another thread - this thread is about other breeds as well.

Nope - nor any other dog that has similar traits. What needs to be done is making people accountable for their pets.
