Wilkinson: Leader of the Oppostion 2018

Postby Queen K » Feb 3rd, 2018, 7:44 pm

How will he do after the race is won?

https://www.castanet.net/edition/news-s ... htm#217980

This thread is intended to be about the person Andrew Wilkinson is and who is to shape BC politics from this day going forward.

I started another thread to encompass all of the BC Liberals under his leadership. Tough distinction, I know. :130:

Andrew Wilkinson will be an excellent opposition leader and premier after that. He's a bright guy with a sterling resume. I don't think that John Horgan is very happy this evening and he wishes he were facing off against someone else. Wilkinson has an excellent grasp of the issues, and he's a very good speaker and debater as well. He seems to have the capacity to bring people together and I have no doubt that he'll unite the caucus and the party in general. Great choice! I'm pleased.

Since we have a dedicated thread to Wilkinson now I'll add this from the other thread:

Someone like George will be impressed this evening because he always said that Christy Clark wasn't good enough because she hadn't graduated from university. Well now. The Liberal Party has a leader who is a lawyer and a doctor! Impressive! He's also a terrific debater and an excellent speaker. He also knows how to bring people together. Great choice!

Hey! Hilary Clinton is too. Imagine that.

I do hope the Liberal Party are happy with their choice to be their party leader. I for my part, will be interested in how things develop for the Liberals and BC overall.

It will be so nice to have someone with considerably more than half a brain in the Premiers office, when the Liberals win the next election.

And "civility" just went down the tubes.

Does that mean all bets are off now?

Gone Fishin, are you happy with the results? :D

An excellent choice for the BC Liberals and for the future of BC. (for all the reasons posted above)

The NDP'ers on here didn't expect Wilkinson to win. Nor did the NDP itself. Therefore, things will be a little quiet on here until the NDP talking points arrive.

Yes , the Liberals were long overdue for that change.

The last time the NDP won a provincial election was 1996 and they lost the popular vote that year but I will say NDP'ers are confident that in next election they'll break the string. They can't be very happy with the choice of Andrew Wilkinson to lead the Liberals though.

So far about all we've seen on here from them is a comment about how Wilkinson had only 18% on the first count. There were six candidates of course and the candidate who won had the best second choice support of all. That bodes well for his ability to bring the party together. As I say, NDP'ers aren't too happy this evening.

It's your night Urbane. You appear happy with the result and that's all that really matters. BC wins when it has strong and intelligent representation on both sides of the legislature.
