Smoke here to stay
https://www.castanet.net/news/BC/232396 ... re-to-stay
Oh, for those exhausted fire-fighters' sake, and for those who have been forced to become 'shut-ins' due to poor air quality........send in those converted 737s and put these things out once and for all. I'd much rather the government spent my tax dollars on water bombers than some of the less important stuff they spend my money on.

Re: Smoke here to stay
The majority of the smoke is coming from a fire in Cathedral Park, and is being allowed to burn naturally because fire is important to the ecosystem.

No, it isn't. Not where I live anyway. Do you not watch Global Okanagan news?

AC was completely serviced before the smoke arrived, so I'm all set for the new normal.

From your link,
BC Wildfire Service incident commander Glen Burgess said the smoke in the Valley isn’t from wildfires burning here, but it is likely to stick around.

Re: Smoke here to stay
The smoke seems to cut down the temp. and uv.
It makes me thirsty 4 or 5 pints more than usual per day
Might scare away some tourists.
It's all good.

Re: Smoke here to stay
What was it, a week ago we had that lightning storm that started all the fires in the area. Now they are either out or under control. Personally I think forestry did a good job in a bad situation, but some people just need to complain about things beyond anyone’s control, like smoke from other fires.

So where is it coming from, according to almighty Global Okanagan News? Further, never mind 737s. If you are too old and sick for fire smoke then get lost, go to some smokeless location, like the Pacific.

Smoke filling into the Okanagan Thursday is being reported by the BC Wildfire Service as being from fires in Greece, Finland and Siberia.

Re: Smoke here to stay
Global said this morning the smoke is also from the Manitoba and Ontario fires.
It's called long range transport.
