The way this government does business is an absolute joke. They do not have a clue and don't care.

no smurf, they care... they avoid transparency as much as possible, they break legally binding agreements routinely, they ensure the bureaucracy chiefs break every rule and procedure to protect those in power.. whats worse, the electorate doesnt care either as shown by reelecting these clowns for three terms!

the latest outrage by this liberal government is what took place in the firing of the chief of staff by clark. no paper trail, interviews and any notes done verbally.... or at least that is the official line of lies, and the liberals have the audacity to believe they can get away with it...yet again...actually they probably will get away with it! sad!

Yes I have to agree they care about their own self interests, their Liberal "Family" and a few close supporters who they pay off at every opportunity. And damn the rest.

Christy Clark spend 15 million tax dollars on campaign style adds over the next month. You are paying for her to toot her own horn, when the cupboards are bare. How much more money will this government waste before we can turf the losers out. Absolutely ,disgusting. 15 million could have gone a far ways on job creation.

Sad thing is, if Christy Clark ran under the BC Conservative banner, there are people who would vote for her and "change".

:dyinglaughing: Good one. I actually hope the Conservatives do well. Better chancce of a NDP victory. Not that an NDP victory excites me, but there is nothing more important than removing this incompetent, corrupt and malfeasant stink pile known as the BC Christy party (formerly BC Liberals) from power. Yes, we should be even more scared of them being re-elected than the NDP.

Be afraid very afraid,it looks like they will be spending millions upon millions of our tax dollars in advertising in attempts to get elected again.I don't have much faith in the electorate of BC, to not be taken in by the deceptions ,lies and smoke and mirror show we will be subjected to, till election time .I also hope the Conservatives do better and would rather have them in opposition than this poor excuse for a government we now have.

The BC Liars Plan

That’s what the BC Liberal jobs initiative should be called.

‘BC leads Canada in job creation. I have the privilege of knowing that because it’s the number one ‘fact’ on the BC Jobs Plan facts page.

The Premier, like a wind up doll, repeats that ‘fact’ every two or three minutes. She follows it with another ‘fact’; ‘BC created 57,000 jobs last year’, to lead the country in job creation.

Except we don’t and we didn’t. Lead the country in job creation and create 57,000 jobs, that is.

It’s a bald face lie.

According to the latest Stats Canada report, BC was about sixth best in the country, behind Alberta, Saskatchewan, Quebec, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and just about the same as Ontario (on a per capita basis).

On the bright side we are doing better than PEI.

Year over year job growth in BC was 1.3% or about 30,000 jobs. It’s a mediocre record in a mediocre year in Canada for job creation.

When it comes to creating full time jobs, BC falls even further behind other provinces.

So all the advertising? Pretty much lies and *bleep*. Come to think about it wouldn’t that be a fantastically apt BC Liberal campaign slogan?

Clark not keen on discussing dismissal of chief of staff
VANCOUVER/CKNW (AM980)

Premier Christy Clark continues to face questions about the recent firing of her former Chief of Staff Ken Boessenkool.

Much like she did last week, Clark refused to explain exactly why there's no formal paperwork on the decision.

The Vancouver Sun's Freedom of Information request turned up nothing.

This time, Globe and Mail reporter Ian Bailey was asking the question.

BAILEY: "Doesn't the absence of paper leave the government vulnerable to suit if there's no record to see how this decision was made?"

CLARK: "No. I don't think so, and I answered most of those questions last week already. Thank you, everybody."

Boessenkool's dismissal came after an incident involving a female staffer at a Victoria pub.

Lynda Tarras, the head of the BC Public Service Agency, was in charge of the investigation.

She should have gotten the facts right before spending 15 million on lies ,misleading information and smoke and mirrors.Hopefully this will grate the enamel off everyones teeth, every time they see one of these adds, and make them as disgusted as they ought to be with this government. And if that doesn't do it, the lies and mismanagement of the Booesenkool affair should make everyone disgusted.

The B.C. government ad blitz flooding the TV airwaves is costing you $15 million — and an untold amount of tooth enamel.

I can't imagine tapped-out taxpayers not grinding their teeth in anger every time they see one of these ads and think about how much it's costing them.

The ads promote Premier Christy Clark's B.C. Jobs Plan and brag about job creation and economic activity in the province.

But Clark is already taking heat for twisting the numbers to her personal political advantage. And the ad campaign shows no sign of slowing, even though Statistics Canada reported Friday that B.C. lost 10,900 jobs last month.

In fact, get set for the current wave of ads to become a tsunami as the spring election nears.

Clark made the point clear herself, when she said in a 90-second Global TV commercial that it was the first in a series.

The latest ads feature Clark speaking into the camera about the need to train young people for skilled jobs — without mentioning her government's support for the hundreds of Chinese miners now being imported to work in B.C. coal mines.

I asked Clark why the government is spending millions on these ads at a time when she's supposedly in restraint mode and cutting costs. "Because we want people to know the facts about the economy of the province," she told me.

"It's important for British Columbians to know where we're at economically, that we've got a plan, we're sticking with the plan, and we're getting results with the plan."

Spoken like every premier before her when they wasted your money on this bunk.

So I asked her: What if the tables were turned? What if the NDP was in power and they ran ads like this? Would she still support them?

There's a pause before she answers.

"It's hard to say, because I think it's useful for people to know the facts."

I think it's hard for her to say for another reason: The NDP did run ads like this when they were in power. And Christy Clark ripped them to shreds for doing it.

In 1999, the NDP government ran ads explaining their budget plan. The ads featured Joy MacPhail, then the NDP finance minister.

"She's got her mug on TV out there, selling her propaganda campaign," Clark railed in the legislature. "How many hospital beds, how many firefighters, how many police officers will not be on the street because she's spending $600,000 on her advertising campaign?"

The same questions could be asked today. But with a much higher price tag attached.

Seems we have a new one to add to the gov't malfeasance and scandalous behaviour list today... and apparently with NDP assistance and blessing... Edit: I'm beginning to believe that whether a party is the government, the opposition, the bureaucracy, the private commercial sector, or one of the wannabe parties - they are all in cahoots to financially screw BC Joe and Jane and family to the maximum!

""MLAs voted secretly for $127,000 allowance

Politicians granted themselves recall allowances, documents show

Facing the threat of being yanked out of office by angry voters, MLAs voted in secret last year to set up a $127,000 golden parachute, newly released documents reveal.

Liberal and NDP MLAs on the legislature's secretive management committee met Feb. 16, 2011, to grant themselves up to $127,324 in a "transitional allowance" should any of them be successfully recalled from office.

The meeting wasn't publicized or open to the public. But minutes released late last month show the results of the vote, held in the Speaker's office at the B.C. legislature.

The move came during the peak of public outrage over the B.C. Liberal government's harmonized sales tax.

Fight HST forces led by former premier Bill Vander Zalm had surprised the government with a successful petition drive that was about to force a referendum on the unpopular tax.

Four Liberal MLAs were also facing recall campaigns by anti-HST forces.

A failed campaign against Oak Bay-Gordon Head MLA Ida Chong had ended two weeks before MLAs granted themselves the new recall allowance.

"It's appalling they passed this in secret," said Jordan Bateman, B.C. director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation.

"There was no mention of this at the time ... so clearly, they knew it wasn't going to be popular with the public."

Previously, the transitional allowance had been available only to MLAs who retired or were defeated in a general election. MLAs who resigned or were recalled from office weren't eligible for the money.

The allowance was designed to help departing politicians find new jobs by providing up to 15 months' salary. Base salary for an MLA is $101,859.

Speaker Bill Barisoff, who chairs the committee, did not return a call for comment Wednesday.

NDP caucus chairman Shane Simpson declined to comment until Barisoff publicly addressed the issue.

The recall campaigns against the four Liberal MLAs ultimately failed to reach the required threshold to remove them from office, and no recall transitional allowance was ever paid out.

The legislative management committee that approved the recall fund was sharply criticized by the auditor general this year for presiding over lax bookkeeping at the B.C. legislature.

Committee members, including Barisoff, admitted they didn't meet often enough to properly address issues.

The committee met only 10 times between 2009 and 2011, according to annual reports released late last month. Some meetings were as short as 15 minutes.

During the meetings, MLAs voted on such things as adding Braille to their business cards, maintaining a red-coloured carpet in the legislature, purchasing hands-free devices for cell-phones and allowing MLAs to buy iPads using constituency office money.

Meeting minutes show the auditor general's critical report was mentioned only once, during a committee meeting that lasted 25 minutes.
