Executive Summary
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is
charged with enforcing federal drug laws. Under the
Controlled Substances Act of 1970, its powers include
the authority to schedule drugs (alongside other federal
agencies) and to license facilities for the production and
use of scheduled drugs in federally-approved research.
Those powers are circumscribed by a statute that
requires the agency to make its determinations based on
scientific data.
The case studies compiled in this report illustrate a
decades-long pattern of behavior that demonstrates the
agency's inability to exercise its responsibilities in a fair
and impartial manner or to act in accord with the
scientific evidence – often as determined by its
Administrative Law Judges.

Good article if one is interested in what has been and is presently going on in the U.S.A. at a Federal Level. Not at all informative and potentially very misleading regarding INDIVIDUAL States, Canada, the UK, Israel and the EU in relation to THC marijuana.

Wow a report on the Federal DEA that focuse especially on the federal level and not state level...and u were shocked by this Donald lol...?

If federal level is purposely blocking scientific data and preventing states from easily studying benefits of marijuana or denying them when discovered...how were individual usa states different? Some are trying to legalize and research more but are still fighting the reefer madness federal DEA..

I'm disappointed your post about wanting current 2016 sources only from now on going forward....the hypocrisy was strong in that one......

How about we all try including sources...even you could start doing so Donald and just let people think for themselves...unsupported opinions shared are just that opinions....

Couple that with the fact that the U.S. government had a mandate to only fund cannabis research that studied negative effects and abuse and you can see why we are so far behind in the study of such a wondrous medication. Add to that the brainwashing of the refer madness days and you get the mess we are in today, including some (or one) of the posters here, who like(s) to regurgitate baseless cannabis fear mongering. But thank goodness times are changing :)

I must admit that up until just a few years ago I was 100% against marijuana, as people around me that I know have gotten older and sicker , some of them have been willing to try mj for medicinal purpose only, the benefits they --ALL- and I say all got from mj-thc-cbd- with no side effects was amazing, at waaaaaaaaaay less the cost. ONE of the many reasons why big pharma hates mj,safe to say

so yes I am all for mj becoming legal because of this, that being said -MJ- for recreational purposes only smoke it at home I do not want to smell your big fat joint when I am walking down the street,and do not smoke your stuff and think you can drive,because just like alcohol-bad idea--

Whether it is first responders, soldiers who have been to war or many Canadians in between, thousands suffer from PTSD and many turn to marijuana for relief.

Now for the fist time, there will be a clinical study to see if it really works.

“This particular study is the largest medical cannabis clinical trial to take place in Canada in at least 40 years” said Philippe Lucas, Vice President of Tilray.

Tilray, based in Nanaimo, is teaming up with the University of British Columbia, choosing 42 participants for the clinical trial to test anecdotal evidence that suggests medical marijuana can help those suffering from PTSD.

“We know that a lot of veterans are using cannabis to deal with their symptoms but the research hasn’t been there for us to get a sense of how it works, who it works best for and are there differences between different types of cannabis that makes some types more effective than others?” said Zach Walsh, Associate Professor Psychology at UBC.

Half of the participants will be police or military veterans while the other half will be made up of those who suffered from sexual or other violence.

I wonder if the subjects for that study will be selected from people who have never used marijuana or previous users, since many are already using it for similar purpose.

I am glad to see that Canada has taken the initiative in running a small numbered test, using three types of Marijuana to determine the effect it has on treating PTSD. Hopefully the results will justify more expansive testing with a larger number of test subjects and more specific varieties of THC/CBD.

On the other hand the obvious shotgun Advertisement posted by jimsenchuck that lacks similar medical support IMO simply serves to mislead people. It is more adapted to a Health Food Store where very little proof of the claims made is required.
