I know you aren't responsible for the content in the year old link you posted-but you are for the personal comments you made. Why should people quit Chantix just cuz YOU say so???? It's helped thousands of people, including myself.

Ok I think you missed the point of the post.
Although the drug has been successful in helping people quit smoking, there have been numerous people who have also suffered severe side affects as per the link I posted, on the previous page.
Anyone using it should be made aware that there can be very dangerous side affects and to pay attention if they start having severe mood swings or feelings of anxiety.

And thank you Nom, that is exactly the point of the post. Just like anti-depressants help thousands, some veer towards suicide, esp. young people. Does that mean a certain med should be discontinued? Of course not. I thought Ogi was er, lacking in certain discernment in that area.

People are aware of the side affects before they take it. So why say this:

..."Chantix is the quicker way to committ suicide than using cigarettes apparently. Do you know someone on it? Are you?
Please quit Chantix before it quits you....."

All the people takin' Chantix should suddenly quit taking it just cuz Queen says to? :eyeballspin:

Actually, you are not to just quit Chantix. I, personally, would never take it. I want to quit smoking, but have done research on the products available and I am not impressed with any of them and/or their side effects. I get a kick out of the government that says they will supply the means to quit smoking. It is like the casinos that have ruined many a life.....they get huge bucks out of it, but they will supply help if you are addicted. Give me a break! I got myself some e cigs (totally natural and non nicotine) and am cutting down daily, plus was given the book but I, too, am not sure how a book could help. but time will tell, I suppose.

Why do you need any products? If you don't like any of them at least try quitting cold turkey. I know it's harder for some than others, but my grandfather quit smoking & drinking in the same year, both cold turkey.

Each person is different....and each person has their pressures and such in their lives that can make it more difficult for them. My father, also, quit cold turkey and preached til the day he passed. What comes easy for some, doesn't for others. I will quit...in my own way, in my own time....had 30 years of preaching and that is enough, thank you very much.

Fair enough, I'm just saying that it is quite possible to do. What do you have to lose by trying it?

Oh god , the preaching. After I quit I found myself chastising my friend who still did. I stopped myself from doing so because I swore I'd never be one of them preachy-thumpers.

I tried champixs but found the side effects outweighed any benefits.

I turned again to the patch, the one cessation aid that I've found most helpful. It's not recommended but since I smoked two packs a day the first step wasn't enough and still found my self jones ing. So, I put a step3 on too and that did the trick

Week 1- steps 1and 3 together
Week 2 - step 1
Week3 - step 2
Week 4- step 3

It's been around 10 months now smoke free and I couldn't be happier. Good luck to those still dealing with the first stages, it does get easier.

Or after a nice meal with your glass of wine?
Or with your first coffee in the morning sitting on your deck watching the sun rise?
I'm not ready to quit yet apparently I enjoy smoking too much....I'm not one of those smokers who secretly wishes I didn't smoke.
when I'm at the stage where I no longer enjoy smoking, I'll quit.

Enjoy the taste of dinner and perhaps another glass of wine

Enjoy the sunrise with your coffee, do both hands need to be busy? ;-)

Unfortunately that may only be once you get emphysema or worse :-(

Sorry had to :)

Pay attention to her...with your hands?

Honestly, I don't even think About it anymore. The only time I think or crave them is sometimes when they're seen.

I was attempting a joke here. I don't smoke personally. My nose is far too sensitive for such things.
