Four reasons you should buy some mangos
4 Reasons it's smart to buy a box of mangos
1 - nutritious
2 - not heavily sprayed
3 - not too expensive by the box
4 - fruit is good for you
compared to buying packaged junk, loaded with chemicals and not nutritious, a box of mangos is a smart thing to buy.

Ataulfo mangoes, the yellow ones pictured are a treat if you can find them for a decent price, not fibrous like the red/green ones you usually find in the big chain groceries. They have a buttery texture that makes them great on their own, or mix them with peaches for a killer pie. Look for good prices by the case at Old Town Farm Market.

Re: Four reasons you should buy some mangos
3 reasons it's dumb to buy mango's.
1. They don't support sustainable agriculture. Shipping products worldwide comes at the cost of our environment.
2. They aren't local. Support our local fruit growers and learn how to dehydrate and can our own beautiful fruit so it lasts us through the winter.
3. Many foreign plantations abuse the local population by paying substandard wages and providing very poor housing etc. Many of the people develop cancers and/or die from the pesticides because the plantations don't provide proper equipment and training. If you must buy mango's get the 'fair trade' labelled type. These come from plantations that keep much more strict standards when it comes to paying employee's and also their welfare.

Mangoes – This thick skinned tropical fruit typically has little or no pesticide residue

WOW - HALF OF BRAZIL'S PRODUCTS HAVE ILLEGAL PESTICIE RESIDUE?
THAT'S INSANE. AND WE HAVE PEOPLE GOING AROUND CLAIMING ORGANIC IS BAD.
Brazil’s Ministry of Agriculture found just half of tested agricultural products to be fully compliant with pesticide norms. Several fruits, including pineapples, papayas and mangoes, contained residue from banned and restricted chemicals.
